The Association of Academic Physiatrists is sponsoring the Program for Academic Leadership (PAL).  Led by Gary S. Clark, MD, CPE, MMM, PAL is a three-year program to develop academic leadership skills in junior PM&R faculty. The goal of PAL is to provide a basic administrative framework and skill set to promising physiatric academic faculty to enhance their leadership abilities within a Department, Medical School, and the field of PM&R at large.

The deadline for PAL applications is October 26, 2012.

Visit the AAP Website to view PAL details, PAL alumni, and to download the 2013 application.

Training in Grantsmanship for Rehabilitation Research (TIGRR) Opportunity
This upcoming intensive grant writing workshop builds upon the successful model used by the Enhancing Rehabilitation Research in the South (ERRIS) workshops that resulted in many junior investigators receiving NIH and NIDRR level research funding.  Unlike passive seminars on grant writing, selected mentees will come prepared to complete at least the specific aims for a grant proposal for submission to the NIH or other funding agency. This offering is based upon a 10 year history of successfully providing mentorship to approximately 300 Junior and mid-level faculty from throughout North America and in several foreign countries.

This 4 and one-half day workshop provides the expertise and support to be successful at the national level in obtaining research grant support. The target audience for this workshop includes junior and mid-level faculty in all rehabilitation research disciplines who are on the cusp of success in NIH-funded or similar research but could benefit from expert mentorship in grant development.
