Kyndle Brown Bag Lunch:
Crash Course on the Affordable Care Act
August 11, 2014
Noon at the Kyndle Offices
Sherry Brackney, a representative of the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration, will provide up-to-date information on the Affordable Care Act at the next Kyndle Brown Bag Series lecture, scheduled for noon next Monday at Kyndle.
Brackney's presentation will provide an overview and detailed information on Title 1 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). She will focus on ways the ACA may impact employee benefit plans, insurance and overall operations.
The ACA is one of the most impactful pieces of legislation in recent memory for the business community, so it's vitally important our stakeholders have all the information possible," according to Margaret Ridley, Kyndle's vice president of business support. "The information on the ACA is evolving, too, so we hope working with the Department of Labor helps us get the latest news and compliance guidelines."
Brackney is a senior benefits adviser for the Department of Labor, where she has worked since 1999. Before that she worked as a pension consultant for 15 years. She received her Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation in 1990 after completing training sponsored by the Wharton School of Business.
The seminar is free for Kyndle stakeholders and will take place in its training room on the fifth floor of the Soaper Building at 145 N. Main Street in downtown Henderson. Attendees should enter through the Second Street entrance and take the elevator to the fifth floor.
Attendees can bring their own lunch or contact Kyndle to have lunch arranged for them.

Century Aluminum invests $3 Million in Sebree Plant, Creates 45 Jobs
|
Kyndle President Brad Schneider said wages at the Century Aluminum Sebree plant average just over $23 per hour. The new jobs will add $2.2 million to an annual payroll that already totals $31 million at the smelter, he said.
"Even more importantly for the long-term viability of our region's economy, Century Aluminum's investment indicates its commitment to the Sebree smelter, both now and for the foreseeable future," Schneider said.
"This is tremendous news and a reassuring message by Century that they will continue to make aluminum here," he said.
"The importance of that is hard to overstate. Century Aluminum's overall economic impact reaches into the hundreds of millions of dollars, both directly and indirectly," and that the company's two smelters in Western Kentucky, at Sebree and Hawesville, support an additional 3,500 jobs in the region.
The expansion and new jobs alone will have an estimated economic impact of $109 million over the next five years.
