The nomination period for Kyndle's 2014 Henderson County Agriculture Awards is now open.

Nominations are being accepted through noon on Feb. 26 for Henderson County Agriculturalist of the Year and Lifetime Achievement in Agriculture. The winners will be announced at Kyndle's 2014 Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast, set for 7:15 a.m. on March 6 at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

The breakfast's featured speaker will be Dr. Nancy Cox, the new Dean of Agriculture at the University of Kentucky. She is the first woman to hold that post. She represents the College on most Kentucky agricultural commodity boards and is on the executive board of the Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition. She is responsible for current planning efforts for an Equine Institute and a Food Systems Innovation Center at UK, and she is serving as interim executive director of the Gluck Equine Research Foundation. In 2007 she was named to the National Advisory Board for Research, Extension and Economics; this board advises the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture on research priorities.

Sam Ball will once again MC the popular breakfast, which has seen standing-room-only crowds each of the last four years.

COST

The cost to attend the event is just 88 cents, symbolic of the small profit a farmer would make on the food on a typical breakfast plate. Golden Corral will once again cater the meal.

RESERVATIONS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED

The reservation deadline is close of business on Tuesday, March 4.

Due to the immense popularity of this event, patrons who come to the breakfast without a reservation cannot be guaranteed breakfast or a seat at a table. Theater seating will be available to those without RSVP. For more information or to RSVP, contact Kyndle at  [email protected] or (270) 826-7505.

opedHenderson County: OPERATION PREPARATION

The Kentucky Department of Education's Unbridled Learning: College/Career Readiness for All initiative is designed to ensure every student is prepared for college and/or career by the time they graduate from high school. Advising is a key strategy for reaching this goal. Yet, in Kentucky, school counselors face an average 450:1 student to counselor ratio, presenting challenges for establishing effective advising programs.

Operation Preparation is a joint effort of the Kentucky Department of Education and the Department of Workforce Development and provides a powerful opportunity for schools, students, parents and communities to collaborate in the process of effective advising and focus attention on the importance of planning for college and/or career.

During March, trained volunteer community advisors will meet one-on-one with every 8th- and 10th-grade student. The community advisor will use the student's Individual Learning Plan or ILP (including career interest inventory and EXPLORE/PLAN results) to discuss the student's:
career aspirations, required education/training and workforce skills, whether the student is on target to meet their goals and whether the student is taking the courses recommended to prepare them for a successful future.

It is anticipated that each session will take about 20 minutes. The meeting is designed to provide both information and inspiration for the student to achieve college/career-readiness.

If Kentucky is to remain economically viable and globally competitive, we need to be sure every one of our students and our workforce is prepared and ready to meet the demands of the 21st-century. Operation Preparation is your opportunity to help.

People Plus, Inc. Wins INAVERO'S 2014 BEST OF STAFFING CLIENT AWARD

Client satisfaction scores far higher than industry norms

Madisonville, KY- February 20, 2014 - People Plus, Inc. announced today it has been named as one of Inavero's 2014 Best of Staffing Client Award winners. Presented in partnership with CareerBuilder, the fifth
annual Best of Staffing Award provides the only statistically valid and objective service quality benchmarks for the industry, revealing which staffing agencies deliver the highest quality of service to their clients.

In a year when the staffing industry's client service quality scores are trending down once again, the Best of Staffing winners scored well above industry service benchmarks. People Plus is one of the best staffing agencies for companies to call when they are looking to hire temporary or permanent employees.

Less than two percent of all staffing agencies in the U.S. and Canada receive the Best of Staffing Award for service excellence utilizing the Net Promoter methodology. The stark contrast in client satisfaction scores compared to the industry average is a clear indication that the firms who have earned the 2014 Best of Staffing Client Award truly stand out for their service quality. People Plus, Inc. received satisfaction ratings of 9 or 10 out of 10 from 74% of their clients, significantly higher than the industry's average of 35% percent.

"We are honored and humbled to receive this award and very proud to be part of this elite group,"
said Amy Sanderson, President, People Plus, Inc. "What we are most proud of is our staff and
assigned associates for making a real service difference in our industry."

"The staffing industry is helping organizations bridge the skills gap and add jobs today more than at any other point in U.S. history," said Inavero Founder and CEO, Eric Gregg.

"Between the well documented skills gaps and economic uncertainty, partnering with a top staffing agency is more important now than ever. The 2014 Best of Staffing Award was earned by less than 2% of the more than 12,000 staffing firms in the U.S. and Canada. In an era of scarce qualified talent, hard to fill positions, and ever-increasing expectations, these agencies have proven they have what it takes to deliver exceptional service to both clients and job candidates. We're proud of the accomplishments of our 2014 award recipients."

Net Promoter, NPS, and Net Promoter Score are trademarks of Satmetrix Systems, Inc., Bain & Company, and Fred Reichheld. Net Promoter Score is calculated by taking the percentage of respondents who, on a scale of 0 to 10, rate their likelihood to recommend the staffing agency with a score of 9 or 10 (promoters) and subtracting the percentage who rate the staffing agency a 6 or lower (detractors). Inavero's Best of Staffing is the nation's only award that recognizes staffing agencies that receive remarkable reviews from their clients and the people they help find jobs (employed talent).

Bestofstaffing.com is the central place that businesses and talent go to find the best staffing agencies to call People Plus, Inc. is a family-owned and certified woman-owned staffing firm that has been serving the employment needs for Kentucky businesses and industry since 1988. Also awarded as a Best Places to Work in Kentucky for the past two years by the Kentucky Chamber, People Plus has offices in Madisonville, Henderson, Princeton, Calvert City, Greenville, Louisville and Lexington.
