The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber has partnered with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives to offer mandatory Kentucky and federal labor law posters at a discounted rate through the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

Kentucky employers with one or more employees are required to post a variety of notices that must meet certain requirements and knowing which labor law posters to display can often be a time consuming and frustrating task for many employers.

Brown Bag Series

April 8  | Henderson Chamber Board Room  |  12 noon


Representatives of POW!  (Partnership of Women) will present the new organization's concept at the next Brown Bag Series lecture.   The presentation will show how area women can collectively pool their financial resources and have a significant positive impact on local non-profit organizations.  Founders of the Henderson POW!  will be on hand, as well as Carol Pace, program officer of the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation, to explain the benefits a similar organization in Evansville has had in that community in a very short time.  Click here to learn more.

Glenn Shepard Seminar

 "Be the Manager Other Managers Envy and Bosses Can't Wait to Reward"

Move beyond simply managing to truly leading your team by attending the "How to Supervise People and Lead a Team" seminar on April 10th.

The seminar will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon at the Henderson County Extension Education & Expo Center, 3341 Zion Road, Henderson.

Cost for this seminar is only $129 for Chamber members and members of the Northwest Kentucky Training Consortium. The fee is $149 for all other attendees. Human resource professionals who need continuing education credits can receive them by attending this seminar.

Interstate 69 Update

Gary Valentine, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's new project manager for Interstate 69,  will be the featured speaker at the Henderson-

Henderson County Chamber of Commerce's February Good Morning, Henderson! breakfast, scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on April 18 at Henderson Country Club.

 

Valentine will give an update on I-69 and the status of construction projects related to the road

The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Target Marketing to create a new map for Henderson and Henderson County.  Along the perimeter of the map are spaces for you to advertise your business.  Northwest Kentucky Job Fair- Northwest Kentucky Forward will host a one day job fair to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 11 at the Henderson Community College - Sullivan Tech Center (Watkins Training Center). Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with and learn more about the companies that are looking to hiring. Admission is free. The Wonder of Learning
- The traveling exhibition recounts experience from infant-toddler centers, preschools and primary schools in the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy. The exhibit is open each week day from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and evenings and weekends during performances at Henderson Community College Fine arts Center. Stitched Art- Ohio Valley Art League presents "Stitched Art" an exhibition of artwork by six area fiber artists is now open in the OVAL Gallery @ Bank Trust, 201 North Main St, Henderson, KY. The artwork will be displayed until April 12th. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wed. Thurs., & Fri. Henderson Community College Workforce Solutions is offering a 40 hour new miner underground class. The class will be held at the IET Building, 701 Pennell St. in Henderson April 15-19 from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. each day. The class is free to Kentucky residents. The non-resident cost is $180 and is limited to the first 30 participants. Click here for more information.

Household Hazardous Waste Day- The City of Henderson and Henderson County will host Household Hazardous Waste Day on April 20 from 8 a.m. to noon at Henderson Recycling, 398 Sam Ball Way. This event is open to residents of Henderson County only. Click here for a list of materials you can bring

 

Faith and Science - Owen Gingerich, a scientist from Harvard University and the Smithsonian, will be speaking at First United Methodist Church in Henderson on April 21. Dr. Gingerich will address Faith & Science at both Sunday morning worship services at 8:30 & 10:45 as well as an afternoon community event at 4 p.m. The message for the morning services will be"Do the Heavens Declare the Glory of God?" His message for the afternoon forum will be "Are We Alone in the Cosmos?" Click here for more information

The Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service will conduct a Rain Garden Workshop at its Expo Center on Monday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. What is a rain garden?  A rain garden is a man-made landscape feature designed to capture and reduce stormwater runoff. The workshop will include a half day of classroom instruction and the other half will be a hands-on demonstration and installation of a rain garden. The cost is $15 and includes lunch. Civic Roundtable - Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes will host a civic roundtable on Tuesday, April 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Henderson Community College's Fine Arts Center. The topic of discussion will be on the Civic Health Initiative, which hopes to improve Kentucky's overall civic health, including voter participation rates and other forms of civic engagement. Kentucky Gives Day- Kentuckians and nonprofits will come together for a powerful day of action on Wednesday, April 24. Kentucky Gives Day begins at midnight EST on April 24 and continues until 11:59pm EST.   Kentuckians can go online to kygives.org, connect with causes they care about and make tax-deductible donations to support the important work of Kentucky charities supporting our communities.  Donors can search for participating nonprofits by name, geography and mission and simply click to donate. Prizes will be awarded to charities raising the most money and random prize opportunities will occur throughout the day. Visit kygives.org for more information.

 

Tri-Fest - The Henderson Breakfast Lion's Club will kick-off the 26th annual Tri-Fest this year on April 19. The food and fun will begin at 10:30 a.m. Associated events once again include the Habitat for Humanity 5K, the Susan G. Komen Bowl-a-Thon and the Red Cross "Race for the Red."  Proceeds from Tri-Fest have allowed the Breakfast Lions to reinvest more than $600,000 into the community over the years. Trashion Show - Studio 421 and The Downtown Henderson Partnership is sponsoring The First Inaugural Earth Day Trashion Show on April 27. Studio 421 and the DHP need help underwriting the expense of this, so if you would like to be a sponsor, your business will be prominently displayed on literature and all advertising.  Or if you want to have fun yourself and advertise your business, sponsor your own designer. Hendo 100- The Chamber's Community Foundation for Excellence will host a golf marathon on April 29. It is open to 18 golf fanatics and their caddies. Each golfer will play 100 holes in one day. Henderson County High School Career and Technical Education students are holding a drawing to win a 2013 Jeep Wrangler, donated by Audubon Chrysler.
