The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber has partnered with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives to offer mandatory Kentucky and federal labor law posters at a discounted rate through the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.

Kentucky employers with one or more employees are required to post a variety of notices that must meet certain requirements and knowing which labor law posters to display can often be a time consuming and frustrating task for many employers.

 Five Henderson Chamber members were among the companies recently tabbed as winners in the 2013 Best Places to Work in Kentucky contest. Air Hydro Power, People Plus Inc., Farm Credit Mid-America, Hilliard Lyons and Independence Bank were among the firms selected as the best work places in the state. Congratulations! The final rankings will be announced in a dinner on April 16 in Lexington. Best Places to Work is a joint effort of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management. For more information about the awards, go here.

Operation Preparation is looking for community members to  collaborate in the process of effective advising for Henderson County eighth- and 10th-grade students and focus their attention on the importance of planning for college and/or career.

Kentucky Chamber free e-membership

The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is committed to creating an environment where our members succeed. While local laws, regulations and mandates certainly affect how you do business, the impact of legislation at the state level is crucial as well. So the Kentucky Chamber has partnered with the state's local and regional chambers and business associations to provide you free informational membership to the state chamber.

 

All you have to do is sign up to become one of thousands of businesses throughout the Commonwealth who count on the Kentucky Chamber for pro-business advocacy at the state level.

 

The Kentucky Chamber e-membership is a no-cost way for small businesses that are members of their local chambers to learn more about business-impacting legislation and have an opportunity to take action. Chamber starting new map project
 
The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Target Marketing to create a new map for Henderson and Henderson County.  Along the perimeter of the map are spaces for you to advertise your business. The Wonder of Learning - The traveling exhibition recounts experience from infant-toddler centers, preschools and primary schools in the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy. The exhibit is open each week day from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and evenings and weekends during performances at Henderson Community College Fine arts Center. Stitched Art- Ohio Valley Art League presents "Stitched Art" an exhibition of artwork by six area fiber artists is now open in the OVAL Gallery @ Bank Trust, 201 North Main St, Henderson, KY. The Henderson City Lions Club's annual auction starts Feb. 11, and Chamber members are urged to donate items the Lions can sell to raise money for their charitable endeavors. The auction has been held each year for more than six decades, and its proceeds have been used to support hundreds of local children and families in need. Veterans Resource Fair/ Stand Down- Audubon Area Community Services, Inc. is hosting two resource fairs for all area veterans, active duty, reservists, National Guard and military families. The first fair will be held on Feb. 20 from 2-7 p.m. at the Henderson County Extension EXPO Center, 3099 State Route 351 East. The second fair is March 12 from 2-7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, 3300 Tamarack Road in Owensboro. For more information contact Vickie Poteat or Robyn Mattingly at (270) 683-1527.

 

The second annual Ohio Valley's Got Talent showcase, hosted by Rotary Colonels2College, will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Henderson Fine Arts Center. The showcase and auditions are open to the public. Auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 13 and from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 16 at South Middle School. Contestants should prepare a 90-second routine and a 90-second backup routine.  "Journey Into Nature" - The Ohio Valley Art League is pleased to announce the opening of a digital photography exhibit in the Rotunda Gallery, Henderson County Public Library, 101 South Main Street, The exhibit will run until Feb. 4. Bowl For Kids' Sake - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Henderson Co. Kentucky is having a fun-filled bowl-a-thon event to raise money to support one-to-one mentoring matches for at-risk children on March 9 at Echo Lanes in Henderson. Getting People to Do Stuff: Effective Leadership & Selling - Henderson Chamber members have been invited by the Warrick County Chamber of Commerce to a seminar on March 19. The presentation, titled Getting People to Do Stuff: Effective Leadership & Selling, will be given by communication consultant Michael Angelo Caruso from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Showplace Cinema in Newburgh, 8099 Bell Oaks Dr. Caruso will spend the morning entertaining, teaching and helping  participants develop skills to succeed in their jobs.
