Help Save the AmeriCorps Program in San Diego!

We need your help! Congress is threatening to cut funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service - the federal agency that oversees national service programs like AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA. SDHFH has partnered with AmeriCorps members for years, and they have been indispensable in helping us serve the community. ReStore Customer Builds a Mini Town with Recycled Treasures
One of our favorite ReStore customers, Rick, has spent the last decade transforming his 3-acre ranch into a fantastic mini town, built with unique finds from his treasure hunts, including items from the ReStore.  Rick's village is designed and built from scratch and can be described as a collection of eclectic salvaged items and family heirlooms.  Each building in the tiny town is themed - Martha's Kitchen, The Hansel and Gretel House, Foxx's Mercantile, Grandpa's Attic, Rusty's Saloon, and Blake's' Barbershop.  The amount of detail and vision it took to build this amazing place is incredible, and Rick was kind enough to offer us a tour recently, where we learned the stories behind his creations.  Click here to see more!

The San Diego Habitat for Humanity Playhouse Program provides a half-day corporate teambuilding event assembling and decorating durable playhouses for children. After 3-4 hours of paint, labor and a lot of creativity, the finished playhouses are given to children through partnerships with several local charities serving families in need.
