OUR MISSION

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Meet the Ramirez Family

The Ramirez Family has lived in their current  apartment in Pauma Valley for the past two years. Calling it an apartment is a stretch - it is more of a structure that the family has done their best to turn into a livable space. The boys share a sleeping space, and the parents sleeping space doubles as a kitchen.

The septic tank for the apartment complex is emptied twice per year and instead of taking the refuse away, the tank is emptied in a ditch near the home. The kids in the neighborhood are often sick, likely as a result of exposure to the waste.

Lionso and Elidia are very hard workers and have steady jobs. Son Ivan is a sophomore in high school and Lionso Jr. is studying Psychology at Cal State San Marcos.

Owning a home through Habitat will change the future of the Ramirez family. They will have a stable, safe, healthy roof over their head where they can thrive. They have already begun their sweat equity hours and are looking forward to their new life.

Happy Birthday, North County ReStore!
It's hard to believe, but it's been an entire year since the Escondido ReStore opened its doors in North County.  This location has become a thriving hub of re-purposing, recycling, and home improvement, and we can't thank you enough for helping to make it a success!

If you haven't yet had a chance to visit us in Escondido, we'd love to see you!  Connect with us to receive great information about products, events, and project ideas!

Home Builders Blitz

We're at it again!  We're blitzing in El Cajon, where we will build four homes - from the ground up - in five days!   This year's Blitz will be expanding the community that The City of El Cajon and The Jimmie Johnson Foundation helped us build in 2009.  El Cajon native and NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson and his wife Chandra will once again be participating in the build, and have generously donated $100,000 to help support our work in El Cajon.

Let's not forget our amazing builders!  They are providing expert labor and are working with their vendors to build these homes at zero cost to Habitat!  That's equal to a $250,000 donation from each builder!  Click here to find out more!

We are in need of event volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact Shandy Arwood
for details.

BAE Systems Helps Repair Veteran Home

Habitat for Humanity's Repair Corps program creates safe, healthy, independent, dignified living spaces by utilizing the donations of hardworking volunteers and individual and corporate sponsors to perform critical home repair on homes owned by local veterans.

One such project was embarked upon recently.

Desert Storm veteran Cliff Cross thinks like many of his brothers-in-arms do. He has a hard time asking for support when he knows that there may be others in more urgent need. That's why his sister-in-law took matters into her own hands and contacted Habitat for Humanity's Repair Corps program to find out if something could be done about the precarious state of his home. Habitat staff evaluated the home and realized that the necessary repairs were going to cost a lot more than was in the original project budget.

BAE Systems stepped in to help.  With their donation of $30,000 and the generous commitment of employee volunteers, Cliff's bathroom received the vital repairs it needed.  In addition, other Repair Corps projects for local veterans will be completed in the coming weeks because of BAE's support.  Check out the news coverage below to learn more!
