Habitat for Humanity's cause would not be possible without the generous help and contributions of many who have worked with us to improve the lives of those in need. We would like to express our infinite gratitude to:
- Our volunteers, for without them, Habitat could not build homes. Their willingness to make a difference, and learn something new is remarkable. We are truly blessed that they have chosen us to dedicate their time and efforts.
- Our military partners, for their service to our country as well as to Habitat. We are so happy to have you out on our job sites. Every week (if not more) at least one military team is out on a job site working hard for low income families.
- Our corporate sponsors who financially contribute to their team building day. We are so thankful that you believe in our mission, and partner with Habitat in this way. You are providing much needed funds for low income families.
You show the true spirit of giving. Thank you.
There are still volunteer opportunities available for December and January. Sign up today! http://sdhfh.volunteerhub.com |

Shop the ReStore for the Holidays
|
Many of you have heard of our ReStore, but have yet to see the wonders inside. Well, this holiday season as you welcome the New Year, the ReStore welcomes your old items. Our ReStore is a discount home improvement center where you can donate items that you no longer use, as well as check out what our unique inventory of donations has to offer. Great finds include appliances, furniture, carpets, lighting, stoves and much more. The ReStore is the perfect place to find that one-of-a-kind gift!
Weary about buying used goods? All of the merchandise in the ReStore is in great condition. ReStore workers say that new visitors are in a state of "amazement" in the ReStore and that sense of amazement turns customers into regulars.
Not only will you be able to find merchandise that is sold at 30-75 percent below the lowest retail price, you will also be keeping these goods in great condition and out of landfills!
Profits from the ReStore will fund construction of more Habitat homes. Whether you donate or buy from ReStore this holiday, you will be contributing a cycle of meaningful giving.
Still curious about how ReStore works? Watch the video below to find out more!

A great way to give this season is through Habitat for Humanity's Cars for Homes program. Vehicles donated to Cars for Homes are sold on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, and the proceeds are put towards future Habitat projects. By donating your car, you will be saving natural resources by recycling, and most importantly, you'll be helping to give a family a home. You will also be given a tax deduction for your donation for the sale price of the vehicle. Cars for Homes accepts cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, construction or farm equipment, and other vehicles, running or not.
Can one car make a difference? Yes! In the past two months about $4,000 was raised for San Diego Habitat for Humanity through car donations. And it's easy.
"It took less than 30 minutes to fill in the forms available online and send in the title," said a donor. That means, in 30 minutes or less, you could help provide a family in need with a home.
We invite you to make a toll-free phone call to 1-877-277-4344, check out Cars for Homes' website here, or watch the video below (it's actually quite funny!).

International Build Opportunity in Costa Rica
|
Come join this Habitat Global Village build for an amazing and enriching experience in the heart of beautiful Costa Rica, February 8-16, 2014! Visit one of the most lush and biologically diverse areas of the world while meeting and sharing experiences with a team of dedicated volunteers.
Break bread together, immerse yourself in a new culture and make a difference.
No construction experience is required; just a passion for exploring new places, and an open heart and mind. Work side by side with the local homeowner, and know your efforts will help change someone's life for the better. Retired healthcare professional Bill McCabe of San Diego will be leading this journey to Central America. Having led a recent build trip to Thailand, he is looking forward to assembling another great Habitat team for Costa Rica. "Even if you don't speak the language, you get to really know the people and their culture, and the experience is life changing," McCabe said. Additionally, McCabe expressed that the Habitat team build experience of working together toward a common goal is a truly unique and rewarding experience. "The feeling of helping a family in need is beyond words," McCabe said. |

"Get Off Your Rockers" Lends a Hand |
San Diego Habitat would like to thank the "Get Off Your Rockers "group for lending their helping hands to "Building for the Brave" at our Lakeside site. Their volunteer efforts prove they are people of their word; not only do they stay physically and socially active, but they also have a zeal for participating in several charitable activities, including helping Habitat for Humanity build homes, participating in beach clean-ups, volunteering with the San Diego Food Bank and collecting used books to share with prisons, schools, and homeless shelters. When they came out to lend a hand at our Lakeside site, the group showed us that there was no sitting around the job site as they hammered in walls. Now that's the way to get off your rocker!
