Last month, Habitat was joined by San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob; Captain Gerral David, Chief of Staff, Navy Region Southwest; Dennis Briscoe, Founder of San Diego Habitat; and the USMC Miramar Color Guard to break ground on its first "Building for the Brave" community in Lakeside.  This project will provide four townhomes for affordable homeownership to disabled veterans and their families and will be outfitted with state of the art finishings adapted to the special needs of the veteran.

This community is made possible by the generous support of the County of San Diego, The Home Depot Foundation, TD Ameritrade, SAIC, and Cox Communications.

All four homes are scheduled to be completed by July 2014.

Estrada Family. Libby Lake

Habitat's newest Partner Family is purchasing a home in the Libby Lake Community in Oceanside!  Omar, Ana, their three children, and Ana's mother Matilde currently live in a low-income apartment community that doesn't encourage the pursuit of financial success and independence, as the family must stay within certain income guidelines to remain there.

The 8-year old Estrada daughter and Grandmother Matilde currently have to share a bedroom. Moving into their four-bedroom home in the Libby Lake Community will allow both to have their own space and privacy and will provide safe places for the children to play.

"Becoming homeowners will change our lives because it will give me peace of mind that our kids are going to be emotionally stable."

~Omar Estrada

Partner Corner
Three hundred Adconion Direct employees from around the globe recently joined us on the build site in Lakeside for a day of community philanthropy as part of its 2013 Annual Employee Summit.  Adconion Direct also made a donation of $60,000 to support building efforts!

Due to a generous donation of servers from Advanced HPC and its partners Open-E and LSI our data capacity is no longer limited by outdated hardware.  Thank you, Advanced HPC, Open-E and LSI, for giving us the tools to help even more people in need in San Diego County achieve the dream of affordable homeownership!
has a fantastic way of giving back to the community!  Employees are given the opportunity to nominate and select non-profits to support each quarter through a donation made from each loan closed.  The entire team at AimLoan gave Habitat quite a surprise when they presented us, their 2012 Q4 community partner, with a check for $57,820.00 recently!  Thank you, AimLoan!
