Haile/Redie Family
The Haile/Redie family currently lives in a two-bedroom apartment. This family of five needs more room. They long for a family home they can call their own and a place for their young children to play.
The family left their home country, Eritrea, due to civil strife and to provide a better life for their children. While living in the US, Ketema was diagnosed with brain cancer. His wife Yordanos cared for him at home for many years and he is now doing much better. Despite their challenges, the family remains positive and can't wait to move into their Habitat home.

Habitat Builds a New Home Near SDSU
|
Habitat's newest home is underway in the College Area!
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, volunteers can be found hard at work on this 1,369 square foot single family home. They work alongside soon-to-be homeowners, the Haile/Redie Family who are completing their 500 hours of required "sweat equity" on their home.
The home will be built with sustainable and recycled building materials such as denim insulation, cement fiber siding, and composite fencing. The project is made possible by countless volunteers and partnerships with SDG&E and the Sempra Energy Foundation, California Bank & Trust, Gafcon, Inc., Nissan and Cubic Corporation.
