Can you believe we've been strengthening communities for 25 years in San Diego?  We couldn't be more excited to celebrate - we've unveiled a new logo, new t-shirts, and have built this giant birthday cake!

We are celebrating all year and invite YOU to join us.  Stay tuned for information on exciting events such as Women Build, Habitat Off Broadway, and our 25th Anniversary Family Reunion!
Helping Our Heroes
Did you know that San Diego County has the largest concentration of veterans in the U.S.?  That's why we've kicked off two new programs to assist them.

Repair Corps provides up to $15,000 in free home repair to veterans and their families.  Building for the Brave builds new homes in partnership with wounded veterans, outfitting them with finishings to help make their homes work better for them.  Our first build site is in Lakeside with a groundbreaking scheduled for this March.

Thank you to our good friends at The Home Depot Foundation, SAIC, TD Ameritrade, and SAIC for bringing these programs to life!

Wounded Warriors from the Armed Services YMCA program at Naval Medical Center San Diego spend the day working on the home of      Stu Hedley, a 92 year-old Pearl Harbor veteran.

Volunteers from the Home Depot hard at work at Florida Street
by Ken Kosman, Chief Construction Officer
2012 was a banner year for the construction team - we welcomed two staff members and broke ground on our first project in Imperial Beach (Florida Street), where we hosted 900 volunteers from the Home Depot and performed "A Brush With Kindness", repairing the exterior of 29 surrounding homes.  Our rehab program completed three homes for low-income families in El Cajon, and we secured $650,000 to begin a rehab program in National City.

We are looking forward to many successes in 2013, our 25th year, including achievements in our new veterans programs, completing four homes in Imperial Beacht, one home in the SDSU College Area, , breaking ground on our four Building for the Brave homes in Lakeside, and starting on 11 new homes in Escondido.  All told, we will be working on 48 homes for local families in need this year!

Thank you to all who volunteer and support Habitat's mission.
