CASA Meeting

Presenter: Pat Dolan
Spirit of Animals

Pat Dolan

Spirit of Animals

Pat is deeply concerned about how our lifestyles are creating Global Warming. She feels that it is her job as an artist to give a voice to the voiceless endangered animals, birds and their habitats. Her paintings of endangered animals of the rainforest are her visual prayers, asking the viewer to remember that once we felt a connection to all life, and we lived in a way that sustained us all.

Pat feels deeply that our art can make a difference in the world by exploring ideas that give form to socially and environmentally significant themes.

Pursuing her passions and convictions, Pat returned to the Ecuadorian rainforest for the third time in mid-February of 2012 to assist the Achuar people in their struggle to prevent international petroleum corporations from entering their territory to drill for oil. Pat feels deeply connected to the many cultures and landscapes of the places she has visited and lived.   These feelings and experiences deeply affect her artwork.

Biography: BS in Art History at Trinity College in Washington, DC; MS in Design at Institute of Design (Bauhaus), Chicago. Certified Spiritual Director, Tacheria School of Spiritual Direction. In addition to the rainforest, Pat has traveled throughout South America, as well as Japan and Bali. She lived in west Ireland and studied Celtic myths. Pat has been a teacher for more than 25 years and has exhibited her artwork widely.   She is currently on the faculty of The Drawing Studio and Director of their OATS Program (Outreach Art Tutoring for Seniors Program).
