Thank you to our Partner in Education Universal Studios! Students who scored at proficiency or made learning gains by state criteria on the FSA ELA last spring. These students were invited to spend a complimentary day in the parks this past Friday, October 14. A fun time was definitely on the menu for the day (pictures just below).

If you and/or your student are looking for ways to give back to the community or show support, below are a couple of ways for the month of October.
Harbor House of Central Florida: Students can earn community service points in supporting this wonderful organization.
SOCKTOBER: The freshman class of 2020 are sponsoring SOCKTOBER. Socks are some of the most needed but the least donated items to homeless shelters. To help make a difference, the Freshman Class will be collecting NEW socks of any size, color, or variety during the entire month of October. At the end of the month we will donate all of the socks collected to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. This is a nationwide movement started by YouTube Star, Kid President. Dress Code - while we respect the opportunity for students to express themselves through their dress for school, ALL students are expected to adhere and follow the student dress code.
CAR RIDERS / STUDENT DROP OFF - Parents, driving safety is a priority here at Dr. Phillips. Over 1,000 cars daily come through our car loop. With this many cars entering the school at the same time requires everyone to be aware. The following are some critical reminders when driving your student to school.
1. Students are not be dropped off on Turkey Lake Road. It is dangerous and against the law.
2. When turning from either direction into the school only use the designated turn lanes. Turning into and squeezing into turn lanes from the main thoroughfare is dangerous and against the law.
3. Drop off your student only from the lane that is along the curb. It is dangerous for students to be dropped off from the inside lane and cut through moving vehicles.
4. Move as far forward as possible. Be aware of the cars behind you are dropping off also. Stopping randomly creates bottle necking of other cars trying to enter and drop off.
On behalf of administration, I greatly appreciate everyone's assistance with make morning drop off as SAFE as possible.
