Hello Patriots. Welcome to the five time, "A" rated, Freedom High School where learning is our top priority and our focus is on literacy, rigor and relationships. Our school's pillars of honor, excellence and tradition continue to be on display on a daily basis by our students, staff and community.

Parent/Teacher Communication
Our goal at Freedom High School is that all students are successful. If a student is experiencing a problem in a course, the best solutions are the result of direct communication between the parent and the instructor. The main number for the school voice mail system is 407-816-5600. You will receive a timely response from the instructor. You may arrange for conferences with all of the students instructors and your child's guidance counselor by contacting the Guidance Office at 407- 816-5603.

Rigor in the Classroom
AP Language and Composition with Ms. Moore
AP English Language and Composition
Students in Ms. Melissa Moore's AP English Language and Composition classes worked on analyzing the rhetoric used in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail." Her students have been practicing rhetorical analysis strategies for the past few weeks.

Shown below, the students are engaged their very first Socratic Seminar. The essential questions for this activity were: "What is the reasoning behind the way in which King structured this letter in terms of rhetorical appeal?" & "How does his usage of each appeal strengthen his argument?"

Friday Night Lights!
New Scoreboard!!

Friday night lights at Freedom has been enhanced with the addition of our brand new scoreboard.

Morning Pep Rally

The FHS band, cheerleaders and dance team got the school fired up for the first home game at a
7:00 am pep rally in the courtyard.

Patriot Field

Patriot stadium is ready to rock!!
Athletics
Visit the FHS Athletics Website at www.freedomhighathletics.com for up to date information including athletic physical forms.
Football
The Varsity Football team is currently 0-1. The team lost heartbreaker in double OT last week to Winter Springs High School by a score of 34 to 27.  The Patriots were led by Dequan Tate who finished the game with 98 yards rushing and 2 TD's.  Come out and support the team throughout the season!

Volleyball

The Girls' Volleyball Program is working hard to live up to their potential. JV is on a winning streak with wins over Oak Ridge, East River and University this week. This is an exciting group to watch. Their passion to play together is clearly the reason for their success. Talent and great attitudes from all players shows a bright future for Lady Patriots Volleyball.

The Varsity has showed true grit in their efforts against some tough teams. Against Oakridge, a slow start was cancelled out with decisive offensive play. The game of the week though was truly the game against East River. Dropping the first two sets, most other teams would give up and go home but not your Lady Patriots. They really pulled together and played with and for each other coming back to win the game. Another sluggish start put the team in trouble against University but even still they were able to take it to four sets before succumbing to the Lady Cougars. As the team gets ready for two big district matches next week, they will have to dig deep and find a way to strengthen their defensive play to come up to the level of their offense. Definitely a season to keep an eye on . . . the next home game is Thursday against rivals Cypress Creek. Come out and support the Ladies and cheer them on to victory.

Swimming

The swim team competed against Lake Nona August 25th with many newcomers to the team that shined as they competed in their first meet. Welcome senior newcomer Christina McGrath who swam a 50 free in 27.21 and freshman Logan LaRochelle, who swam a 1:00.21 in the 100m Butterfly. Freedom also took first and third in the 200IM thanks to Junior, Daniel Perez and sophomore, Alex Balaguer. The boys 400 free relay also took first with a time of 3:37.9. The boys and girls also competed on Monday, August 29th against University.  It was a close meet between the two teams, but the girls fell to University with a score of 76-93 and the boys won against University with a score of 84-83. Congratulations to all the swimmers that competed!

Golf
Freedom's boys' and girls' golf teams both opened their season with a win against Cypress Creek at Hunter's Creek Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.  The boys were led by Senior Garrett Filson who shot a 9-over par 45.  The girls were led by Freshman Emily Staples who shot a 1-under par 35.

Cheerleading

The FHS Cheer squads have had a great start to the 2016-17 school year. All three squads performed well at UCA summer camp where the Varsity Squad came home with the top award of Camp Champs in their division.  In addition, the Varsity squad has already started cheering on football team;  the JV and freshman squads will be in action in the next couple of weeks.
