This is the last Panther Post for the year and it has been another amazing year! We a few more celebrations to share.

Recognizing our Retirees
I would like to take a moment to recognize ten amazing educators who have retired during this school year or will be retiring at the end of the school year.  Over 200 combined years in education and experience are among these remarkable group of educators. On behalf of administration we thank you for your service and dedication to Orange County Public Schools and education as a whole. We wish you a fond farewell and the very best in your retirement years.

Recognizing High Impact Teachers
Earlier this spring, these teachers received congratulatory letters from Commissioner Pam Stewart recognizing them for this achievement. The letter stated,  "Whether in a classroom where students arrived already high achieving, or a classroom in which students were underperforming, your efforts provide inspiration and opportunities to young people that may have been otherwise inaccessible."

The state determined the high-impact teachers based on how their students performed on statewide exams over a 3-year period and the growth of the students from one year to the next. The state limited high-impact distinction to those who taught courses measured with the Value Added Model - reading (grades four through 10), mathematics (grades four through eight) and Algebra 1 (grades eight through nine).

The district hosted a reception this past week for all high impact teachers in Orange County. Dr. Phillips is proud to have five high impact teachers among the faculty.  Congratulations again for a job well done!!

As we close out this year, I want to take a moment to thank you for allowing me to lead your students. It is a privilege and honor to be your principal.

I hope everyone enjoys their summer. We will see you in August.

Sincerely,

Dr. Knight
Proud Principal

DECA

Students from Olympia High School and Dr. Phillips High School attended the DECA International Career Development Conference in Nashville, TN.  The conference in Nashville hosted nearly 18,000 students from all 50 students and several countries around the world, including Canada, China, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Spain.

The students compete in one of 45 different marketing categories, attend leadership programs, and participate in Florida DECA functions while at the conference. Presentations are delivered to business professionals who volunteer to judge the competitions which are held over three days, culminating with a Grand Awards program to recognize the top competitors in the world.

Max Kingstone (Senior pictured above - Dr. Phillips) is a four-year DECA competitor and finished as a top 20 finalist in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Individual Series Event at this year's conference.
It's a beautiful thing!
