* Morning drop-off on Tower Lane circle - please do not pass other cars on the circle - observe the 5 mph speed limit

 

* Pickup - Tower Lane parking lot is closed near the front entrance from 2:30 until 3:15 pm every afternoon to allow for bus pickup.  Park on Tower Lane and inform your child to be careful if crossing the street.

 

* Grade Level Assemblies will be held the first full week of school.  

 

* Lunches will be served, check this month's WV School Menu.

 

* Late Bus Runs - Late bus routes are run every day at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., leaving from the front of WV.  Students should tell the bus driver as they board their bus which stop they need. Late bus routes are posted at the school and here. 

 

 * Welsh Valley Daily Announcements are made every morning.  They include information about activities, 6th grade intramurals and 7th & 8th grade sports. The announcements are always included on the Welsh Valley page of the LMSD website. 

 

* Welsh Valley Activites - At the start of each school year, club sponsors and representatives introduce activities through a series of grade-level assemblies.  Please ask your child about recent assemblies that were held for information about the clubs and activities at Welsh Valley.  To find out mores about Activites at Welsh Valley, click here.

Yellow Emergency Cards & Google Apps for Education Middle School Opt In forms due 

Emergency Contact Information forms were due to the homeroom teachers on Wednesday 9/5. Please send them in to school if you haven't done so already.  The Google Apps for Education Middle School Opt In form is also do.   

 

Student class schedules for the school year were available starting 8/28, on PowerSchool. Families should have received an email from the district with information about a "single sign-on" feature for parents with multiple children.  Click here to see the instructions.

Attention Parents and Guardians of 7th grade students:  Immunizations Requirements

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that all students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap (Tetanus/diphtheria/acellular pertussis) within the last 5 years and one dose of Meningoccal Conjugate vaccine. Most students would have received these vaccines at the time of their 11 or 12 year physical exams. If you have not submitted a physical exam to school within the last year and/or an updated copy of your child's vaccine record, please drop off, mail, fax (610-667-4749), or scan and email to bromlek@lmsd.org as soon as possible. School physical exam forms are preferred and can be downloaded (click here) but we will accept a comparable physician form, camp or sports form. Parents of students with missing physicals and vaccines will be notified by mail on or about September 15th that their child is provisionally enrolled for up to 8 months with an exclusion date of May 1, 2014 pending receipt of an updated vaccine record.

 

Welsh Valley Fall BBQ:  Volunteers Needed - September 13 (rain date 9/20) 

PARENTS NEEDED in this first and one of the most fun events of the year.  It is a great way to catch a glimpse of your child hanging out with friends! Parents volunteers are needed to serve BBQ favorites (grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and vegetarian ribs plus all the sides) to the students and staff. The BBQ is held during each lunch period and the kids get to eat outside picnic-style!  All you'll need is a hat and a smile. Come for as long as your schedule allows, but do come! Shifts run from 10:30 - 11:30 6th grade; 11:30 - 12:30 7th grade; 12:15 - 1:15 8th grade  

 

Here are a few important details and dates to know before the season begins:

  1.  September 9th- All PIAA/Physical forms are due.  You can download the form here. The PIAA form must be completed and turned in before the student is allowed to tryout for a sport; if you are unable to get an appointment at your regular doctor; a CVS Minute Clinic or Walgreens, Minute Clinic can also perform a physical

  2.  September 11th- 1st day of Fall Sports tryouts
  3. All parents and guardians are suggested to sign up for e-alerts for any schedule changes that might take place. You can sign up on the website:  wvdragons.digitalsports.com

ISC Meeting - Dr. Christopher McGinley to Speak - Tues, 9/17, 9:30 am

The next Interschool Council General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 9/17 at 9:30 am at the Academy Building (adjacent to Bala Cynwyd Middle School). Our speaker will be Dr. Christopher McGinley, LMSD Superintendent. Light refreshments will be provided. All parents and guardians are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
