|
Weekly Dragon Pride Student CommendationsWe are pleased to recognize our Dragon Pride Commendation award winners. The following students were recognized by our staff for demonstrating Random Acts of Kindness or Contributing to the Welsh Valley Community. We encourage all students to do the right thing for the sake of it being the right thing to do. We want to recognize students for good deeds, sometimes with a smile or thank you, other times with a commendation. But our overall goal is for our staff with the commendation program is to acknowledge students for doing the right thing in the most genuine sense. The Character and Citizenship Committee and WVMS faculty would like to thank these students for helping make Welsh Valley a better place.

Attention parents of current 6th graders: Required Vaccines for 7th grade |
ADDITIONAL immunization requirements for entry into 7th Grade:
- 1 dose meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)
- 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) [if five years have elapsed since last tetanus immunization]
The only exemptions to the school laws for immunizations are:
- medical reasons (requires a written statement from a physician)
- religious beliefs (requires a written statement from a parent)
If your child is exempt from immunizations, he or she may be removed from school during an outbreak.
To avoid exclusion from school, we MUST have a copy of an updated vaccine record that demonstrates that your child has received these two required immunizations. If you have not submitted a 6th grade physical exam form yet, then we do not have your child's most recent vaccine record. Physical exam forms (click here for form) & vaccine records can be mailed or faxed (610-667-4749) to the attention of the school nurse, Kathy Bromley, hand delivered, or scanned & emailed to bromlek@lmsd.org

Medications Must be Picked Up By a Parent or Guardian Before June 18
|
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is hard to believe we have completed another school year. All of the Welsh Valley nurses have enjoyed getting to know your children this year.
All medications in the nurse's office must be picked up by a parent or guardian on or before the last day of school (June 1 8, 201 3) as per the Lower Merion School District policy. For the safety of all students, no medications will be sent home with students. Any medication left in the nurse's office after the last day of school will be destroyed.
We are already looking forward to the 2013-2014 school year. All medications must be renewed annually. Physician orders are required for both prescription and over-the-counter medications. If you would like your child to have medication available in school, please have your healthcare provider complete LMSD form 28c (click here).
Please contact our nurse's office for any questions you may have. Have a safe and healthy summer.

Chorus 2013-2014
|
Hi Parents!
If your child is in chorus next year, for your planning purposes, all students will be asked to purchase a formal chorus shirt for $30. This money will be due in September. You can pay in cash and put it in an envelope with your child's name on the front OR write a check out to Welsh Valley Middle School. The dress shirt is white and will either say Welsh Valley Chorus or WV Advanced Chorus. These shirts make our students look uniform and appropriate. If a student already has one of these shirts, they will NOT have to purchase a shirt. Please purchase the shirt one size larger so they can wear it for the following years as well. For the November concert, students will be asked to wear black pants (no leggings) or an appropriate length skirt with black stocks or black tights. For the Spring, the students like to get creative and like to vote on their options. I will let you know about Spring attire by December. Thank you and what a great year! Important "Change of Residency" Information
|
Throughout the summer months, many district residents change addresses and do not notify the District until just before school starts. If you move or change residences within Lower Merion School District, you must contact the LMSD Central Registration office as soon as possible to officially update your address and submit new proofs of residency.
It is critical to keep your address information up-to-date so you can receive important correspondence about your child(ren) and to avoid delays in bus assignments.
There is a "Change of Information Form" on the Lower Merion School District website under the Registration link which you can print, complete, and submit with your proofs of residency. (click here to see form)
Please contact the Central Registration office at 610-658-3996 if you have any questions.
