Weekly Dragon Pride Student Commendations
We are pleased to recognize our Dragon Pride Commendation award winners. The following students were recognized by our staff for demonstrating Random Acts of Kindness or Contributing to the Welsh Valley Community. We encourage all students to do the right thing for the sake of it being the right thing to do. We want to recognize students for good deeds, sometimes with a smile or thank you, other times with a commendation. But our overall goal is for our staff with the commendation program is to acknowledge students for doing the right thing in the most genuine sense. The Character and Citizenship Committee and WVMS faculty would like to thank these students for helping make Welsh Valley a better place.

Letter from the Principal
|
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s)/Caregivers:
As we reach the mid-year point of the 2012-2013 school year, we want to take a moment to pause and praise the middle school students of the Lower Merion School District. It has been a great year at both Bala Cynwyd Middle School and Welsh Valley Middle School, with students working hard, making great achievements in academia, sports and activities, and raising awareness for important causes through donations and fund raising efforts. There is a great sense of community in these two schools, and we, as principals, are very proud of the work the students are doing; we are excited for you to see what the rest of the year has in store.
Along with congratulating our students on their hard work, we want to make our families aware of a few changes to the school calendar. These changes are necessary due to the school days missed because of hurricane Sandy at the end of October and beginning of November.
- Tuesday, June 18th, 2013 is now the last school day for students. It is a half day; no lunches will be served.
In addition to the calendar changes above, the school district has moved the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremonies for both BC and WV to Monday, June 17th. More information about 8th grade promotion will be sent out from each school as we get closer to the event.
As we move through the second half of the school year, we ask that you continue to encourage your children to work hard and explore new and exciting endeavors during their time in middle school. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the changes in the calendar or your individual child's needs, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Jason E. Potten, Principal Dr. Orathia T. Bradley, Principal
