Another WeChat game sets a record - this time it is called Tian Tian Ku Pao, and it is a running game. The game launched September 16th and according to Gamelook.com, it has already generated 100 million RMB in revenue and has maintained 1st place on the App Store ranking. There are monetization opportunities built into the game, but there is no denying the vast audience for WeChat games - hundreds of millions of hungry users who love to play games with their friends.

China's Ministry of Industry and Info Technology (MIIT) announced regulations regarding preloaded software on smartphones. Evidently, it is common in China that an Android phone will come with 20-30 preloaded apps that cannot be uninstalled, and yet they can share user information or even lead to charges on the user's bill without their true knowledge. The MIIT requires a list of preloaded software apps to be published, and if the user compares his phone to the list and sees a discrepancy he can file a complaint and the situation will be resolved.

WeChat now has more than 600 million users, 100 million of whom are overseas. This is up from 400 million even as recently as July, at which point there were 70 million overseas users. This surge in growth is one of the reasons that WeChat's new game channel cannot be ignored as an important distribution path for online games. Tencent has only released a handful of games to WeChat thus far, but more are on the way and those that have been released are doing quite well.
