HAPPY
BIRTHDAY

PBY!
Greetings!

Spring is here.  It feels awesome!  Some days are hot, some cool, some windy, some rainy, some sunny.  The options are endless.  We are so lucky in life to have so many options, sometimes it may feel like too many.  It isn't though.  We are all exactly where are meant to be and have prescribed for ourselves based on our intentions and personal paradigms.  We control that.  If you need a shift, a rest, a charge or a time of connection you can find it on your mat.  Remember that.

See you in the HOT room!
ZERO TO SIXTY
It was an exciting day when nearly a dozen power athletes stopped by PBY to join us in the hot room.

Thank you Marwin (bottom left) business owner and personal trainer for bringing us your trainees, including Chicago Bears Wide Receiver, Joe Anderson (extreme left side of picture).

  HYDRO FLASK TO THE RESCUE!!
Finally!!  A water bottle bottle that keeps cold water cold (and of less importance at a Bikram studio, hot things hot)!!!  The ultimate answer to the Bikram practitioners' water needs.

Meet Hydro Flask with the cute PBY logo to boot (did I mention they have a charitable arm called FivePercentBack.org to give a portion back to worthy causes?):

VACUUM INSULATION
The entire Hydro Flask line is vacuum insulated which means there is an absence of matter between the two stainless steel walls. Since there is no matter, the temperature outside of the flask has a difficult time affecting the temperature of the contents inside the flask.
COLD UP TO 24 HOURS   |   HOT UP TO 12 HOURS
Due to the fact that our flasks are vacuum insulated, your hot beverages stay hot up to 12 hours and your cold beverages stay cold up to 24 hours.
18/8 STAINLESS STEEL
All of our flasks are made of 18/8 stainless steel; BPA free and highly resistant to absorbing odor, taste and bacteria. They are simple to clean, don't have a liner to scratch and are completely recyclable.
LIFETIME WARRANTY
We guarantee every Hydro Flask against manufacturer's defects for 100 years or one lifetime, whichever comes first.
POWDER COATING
All Hydro Flasks are made of 18/8 stainless steel. We offer a multitude of color choices with a powder coat finish as well as the Classic Stainless.
SWEAT FREE
Our double wall vacuum insulation prevents condensation with your cold drinks. And, when you are drinking a hot beverage, the vacuum insulation prevents the heat to transfer to the outside of the Hydro Flask, so your hands should always be comfortable.

EMRE
One of our own at PBY, we are proud of Emre, who recently won Bronze at 2/23/2013 IBJJF Houston International Open competition on February 23rd and also at the IBJJF Chicago International Open on March 9th.

Emre is a software developer at JP Morgan Chase.  He trains in Jiu Jitsu everyday after work, except Fridays. He also trains every Saturday at two locations back to back. To complement his Jiu Jitsu he lifts weights and practices Bikram Yoga (at PBY). In his "free time" (which seems hard to come by considering all he is doing) he also likes cooking and spending time with family and friends.  Bravo Emre.  You do us proud!
EVERY 15th
Folks don't forget that if you leave it here, we send it on to the Goodwill on the 15th of every month.
            NEW CREW
A little reminder that we have some greenhorns (veterans of the practice, only green on the podium) who are eager and able to lead your Bikram Yoga class, spreading the Bikram love.  Welcome to Ronnie, Krishna, Mila and Kristie.  Check them out!
A BIG THANKS TO JEANNETTE
Our Religions of India class was a tremendous success.  We had a full house of PBY yogis learning more about the world around them, differing beliefs and really what makes us all similar.

It was an enriching, fulfilling and meaningful series.  Jeannette, we put our arms around you and send a big thank you your way.

If you are interested in seeing a particular speaker, please let us know.  Thanks to Greg for making this series a reality!

SPECIAL ATTENTION
There comes a time in every practice when the postures require a little extra attention.  Our seasoned teachers: Beth, Taz and Cindy are available to help you out if you have come to that place in your practice.  Ask at the front desk about a private or a duet (private for two people).  Take your practice where it is trying to take you!
MIND YOUR YOGA P'S AND Q'S
Every once in a while it is a good idea to remind everyone about the etiquette of the Bikram Yoga room.  So here goes, if this applies to you, then make sure to please adjust your habits.

The room is meant to be HOT, real hot; however, sometimes it is not.  So the best option is to just deal with it.  When it is hot, too hot for you, because it happens, then rest.  When it is not hot enough, for you, then use the opportunity to not worry about becoming so winded and go deeper into your postures.  This room is a mirror of how you handle situations in the outside world.  Stuff happens.  Do your best to cope and make the most of all situations.

There is no bathing allowed in the hot room.  If you are overheated then you need to rest, but do not ever pour water on your head, neck, towel or body.  The water is meant to be drunk.  Period.

Always work with what the teacher says.  It is easy to know what is coming next.  Don't.  Don't "overthink" the Yoga.  Listen to the words spoken by the teacher and do what is said.

Although the practice is individual the group energy is shared and with that ALL are effected by your actions.  So make sure this yoga is honorable to yourself and to your fellow yogis.

This seems like it shouldn't need to be said, but it does.  So no chewing ice, no bathing, no talking and finally, be mindful of the silence which is what the room is meant to be.  If your water bottle  is loud then try to make sure it doesn't clank and bang.

This is yoga.  It is a moving meditation, not a gym.  Quiet and respect are paramount.  If this information has you a little charged, then take a look at that, and identify why.  No harm meant.  Namaste.
A NOTE ON THE 9AM TU/TH CLASS
During April we will hear opinions on whether this class time should remain a Hatha Yoga class or return to to a Bikram Yoga class.  We are open, so let us hear from you.

And it is only because of you who is reading this that we are here at all.  You are the reason we have a 4th Birthday to celebrate.

I say it all the time, but I don't believe you can say it enough, thank you.  Thank you for being you and for being part of our family.  PBY is for you and because of you.

Here's to many more birthdays together!

Many Blessings,

Taz
