Student Couple of the Month
Ferdie & Irene
"You just need to be limber and more flexible, so try doing yoga." My wife, Irene still remembers her doctor's recommendation 8 months ago, after months of taking pain medicines and costly physical therapy failed to relieve her chronic knee and back pains caused by high impact exercises and work related stress being a critical care nurse. She then decided to try Bikram Yoga and was so glad she did because within weeks of practice, she noticed a lot of improvement not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally. She attributes these to the great support from the studio owner, Taz and the rest of the awesome teaching staff. Irene kept on bugging me to try Bikram yoga so that, according to her, she could get a free class. I hesitated at first, as I was concerned, not only with the various DVD exercises and some exercise equipment that we had accumulated for years, but that they might just be put to waste. But, as what is expected from a great husband like me, I decided to give it a try. After the first class, I thought she just wanted to torture me in her own fashion. Kidding aside, I learned to love it, to the extent that I was able to finish a 60 day challenge 3 months ago. This has been a great journey for both of us. We got to know more people and have gained friends along the way. This month we celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary and we are deeply honored and thankful for being chosen as student couple of the month. We are looking forward to more years of practice in the hot room, where you'll discover, that as you honor your mind and body, you'll feel the 105 degree warmth of God's embrace. Isn't that super cool? Namaste! |

We build upon our understanding from the previous classes and look at how yogic philosophy, anatomy, and practices fit within the context of the Dharmic worldview. The class provides an overview of the development of yoga in the West in the 20th century. |
