New Downtown Melrose Employee Parking Program Starts January 3
This is a reminder about the new downtown Melrose employee parking program, which will be in effect and enforced starting on January 3rd. The Chamber originally sent this information to our members on October 28th and December 15th.

Overview of the new employee parking program:
  • Allows employees to park in certain designated locations at no cost
  • Sticker based permit; employee must present proof of employment to obtain the permit
  • New signage has been installed that designates 170 spaces for employees as follows:
    • Berwick Street: 50 spaces
    • City Hall: 60 spaces
    • Friend's Court (behind Papa Gino's): 16 spaces
    • Larrabee Lot (behind Giacomo's): 34 spaces
    • Livermore Lot (Caruso Block): 10 spaces
For businesses that need to be able to park in close proximity to their front door, an alternative parking pass that allows employees to park in any lot at any time is available for purchase a cost of $600 a year and capped at 35 permits.

The new Merchant Parking Permit Program (for both the free and the universal permit) will be in effect and enforced starting on Tuesday, January 3. 

How to obtain a parking permit:
Merchant Parking Permit stickers were made available starting in November and are still available in the Collector's Office on the first floor of City Hall, and will continue to be available through the new year. Please bring proof of Melrose employment and have your license plate number available.

City Hall Hours:
  • City Hall will be open 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, December 30. 
  • City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 2, in observance of the holiday, and will open again at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, January 3. 
  • Normal business hours at City Hall are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Fridays.
