Tax Assessment Help Centers The Chief County Assessment Office (CCAO) will hold 16 TAX ASSESSMENT HELP CENTERS this fall to help residents understand their property assessment. Residents will work one on one with a member of the CCAO staff to evaluate their property tax assessment and learn how to use valuable web applications on the county website.

Mental Health Summit for Veterans and Their Families Aug. 19
Veterans, military members and their families are invited to the Lovell Federal Health Care Center's annual Mental Health Summit from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Bourke Hall, Building 4, 3001 Green Bay Road. Specific topics that will be discussed include identifying and seeking solutions to gaps in care, as well as looking for ways to enhance communication between Lovell and community based mental health providers. Other discussions will focus on enriching an understanding of military culture, promoting community inclusion for everyone seeking mental health services, and addressing the needs of patients' family members. County-wide Collaborative Coalition Pursues Solutions to Opioid Problem
Public safety officials, first responders, the health department and hospitals across Lake County are working to address the rising problem of use and abuse of opioids, including heroin and prescription pain medications. Through the Lake County Opioid initiative, first responders recently completed training on the use of Naloxone - a drug that is used to reverse an opioid overdose and save lives. Board Approves New Radio System for Public Safety First Responders
The County Board recently approved use of a new statewide radio communications system (known as STARCOM), in partnership with the Lake County Emergency Telephone Systems Board (911 ETSB), which will allow public safety personnel to communicate more effectively on a local, regional and statewide level using a common system - what's referred to as "interoperability." Homeowner Deed Scam
The Lake County Recorder of Deeds office has received calls from concerned residents reporting an ongoing scam involving fake companies soliciting homeowners to purchase a certified copy of the deed to their home for $90. For your protection, all requests for copies of deeds should be handled directly through the Lake County Recorder's office. 17th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta
August 17, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.., Lakefront Park The race is held at noon. The registration and boat building kit cost is $30.00 and kits are available at Village Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Choose to build on-site, or off-site. Categories are by age.
