Washington Street to Close for Four Months for Road Construction
The Lake County Division of Transportation will be closing Washington Street to through traffic from Cedar Lake Rd., to Hainesville Rd., on March 31 at 6 a.m. and will reopen four months later. The closure is necessary as part of the Washington St. reconstruction and widening project. In the fall of 2013, Washington St. was reconstructed from Cedar Lake Rd. to Linden Drive. The upcoming closure is to complete the reconstruction from Linden Drive to west of Hainesville Rd.

Detour Detour Route: Cedar Lake Rd., to IL Rte. 134, to IL Rte.120 to Hainesville Rd.

 Lake County Announces 2014 Construction Program 
2014 will again be another extremely busy construction season. The Lake County Division of 
Transportation (LCDOT) will continue with its multiple projects already underway and start anumber of new reconstruction and widening projects, intersection improvements, resurfacing projects, and several pedestrian/bike path projects this year. Learn more.

Illinois Senate Committee Passes Standards of Conduct Legislation
Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor recently provided testimony to the Illinois Senate Local Government Committee supporting proposed Standards of Conduct Legislation (Senate Bill 3552) that aims to enhance transparency, responsibility and accountability of appointed government bodies, and create consistent standards for appointees across all counties. The bill now goes to full senate for a vote. Read News Release
