Lake County Transportation News

 Lake County's Transportation Market Analysis

Tuesday, February 21 - Friday, March 16

Lake County is conducting a comprehensive study to better understand the daily travel of people in the county so we can consider enhancements to our public transportation system. Specifically, we want to know where Lake County residents are going and when they are traveling. We also want to know how often Lake County residents use public transportation and whether or not public transportation options are available. This survey will give us data to evaluate public transportation options and consider reconfiguring the existing Pace Suburban Bus routes, creating new routes, or adding new public transportation services.

Please take a few minutes to answer some questions about your typical daily travel:  SURVEY

If you have any questions, please contact Valbona Kokoshi of Lake County Division of Transportation at 847.377.7538 or send an email to vkokoshi@lakecountyil.gov.

March 20 Election News and Resources

Spanish Election Materials Required by Voting Rights Act

Lake County is now required to provide complete bilingual election administration in the Spanish language for 2012 and future elections. This requirement is a result of 5% or more of the voting age population in the Latino community listing on the U.S. Census survey that they have a limited English proficiency. The Voting Rights Act as administered by the U.S. Department of Justice establishes the Latino community as a protected group entitled to bilingual election administration. The Lake County Clerk's office is working diligently to comply with the bilingual requirements and to ensure Lake County taxpayers and voters are not at risk for any facet of non-compliance.

Voting By Mail Continues Until March 15
Any Lake County registered voter may vote by mail. Illinois law requires each person voting by mail to complete an official application for ballot before every election. Once the signed application is received, a ballot can be mailed to the voter.

Complete and print your personalized application for ballot at LakeVoterPower.info after confirming your registration by selecting Application to Vote by Mail. Print, sign, and date the online application before mailing to the Lake County Clerk. To have your application mailed, send an email to  VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov or call 847.377.2406. Those choosing to vote by mail can use the "Track My Ballot" option under Voter Power to confirm their voted ballot has been received by the Clerk's office. Voted ballots must be returned to the Clerk's office with a postmark no later than March 19, the day before Election Day.

Find "What's on my Ballot"

Visit LakeVoterPower.info for resources including your voter registration status, candidates, current elected officials, sample ballot, and voting site locations and directions. Data is transmitted via a secured (SSL) page and is not stored or collected on the site. Select Democratic or Republican to view your sample ballot under the What's on my Ballot link. You can print the sample ballot and may use it as a personalized voter guide that you take to the polls.

Join the Antioch CERT Team

CERT The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of the community.

This training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available.  With training and practice and by working as a team, you will be able to do the greatest good for the greatest number of victims after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim.

Classes will be taught by trained emergency personnel, including firefighters and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.  The program consists of 20 hours of training and emphasizes hands-on practice.

For more information about the course and to join the Village of Antioch CERT team, visit AntiochEMA.org.
