PARENT TIP
Keep In Touch
With Teachers
It's important to maintain the lines of communication
between you and your child's teacher.
Consider trying some of these strategies:
  • Participate in classroom activities. You may be unable to volunteer regularly, but try to help out once in a while. It's a tangible way to connect with one another.
  • Use the phone. Ask the teacher if you can call to discuss classroom-related
issues during lunch, on one of her breaks or after school. A short conversation can go a long way toward solving school problems.

PARENT TIP

Children may get bored during winter break. Below are some tips to keep the winter break a joyous time:

  • Save the calendars of events that are printed in most newspapers. December is filled with activities for the whole family-many of them offered for free.
  • Plan one main activity to do each day. And be sure to set aside some time each day for reading.

Meet Mitchell Wenstrup, Kenton Elementary Cafeteria Manager
"I have the best job in the world because I get to taste food every day," said Mitch Wenstrup, Kenton Elementary Cafeteria  Manager.

Mitch is not new to Kenton Elementary but he is new to the position of Cafeteria Manager. "My children attend this excellent school. I have volunteered here for a number of years. The teachers and staff are just the best. It made going from a volunteer to an employee very easy," said Mitch.
