2015 will be a watershed year for BECA.
Why?
BECA Nicaragua is taking the reins!
The BECA Nicaragua
team -- Maryury and Urania -- will be largely left to their own devices.
I guess this shouldn't come as a big surprise because we've been preparing for this moment for quite a while.
And it's time.
When I look back at the last seven years, Maryury and Urania are my greatest successes.
And therein lies the key to future change: Identify the leaders and empower "the crap" out of them.
These young people -- and those that they in turn empower -- are the ones best-positioned to lead change in the Nicaraguan education system in the longer term.
Along with this shift in BECA's operating structure, comes a few housekeeping items:
- This will be the last monthly newsletter published in English. If you are interested in receiving the Spanish version, please subscribe here.
- The English facebook page will no longer be updated. You are welcome to join the BECA Nicaragua Facebook fan page (Spanish).
- The news section of the English website will be updated with Spanish news.
I will continue my role as consultant to the Nicaraguan team and be making regular visits.
If you're curious, I'm not the least bit nervous about this transition.
I backed off from operations in 2014 and BECA Nicaragua performed with flying colors.
I believe in them.
And . . .
They know better. (Even though I don't always like to admit it.)
Sincerely,
