Back to school!
At this time of year in Nicaragua the school year officially begins. This also applies to the students
BECA supports.
126 young people are looking forward to either their first, second, or third year of studies. May I say that without the support of BECA, they wouldn't have had the resources to continue their education after high school.
The BECA foundation is working hard here to level the playing field with the objective that all high school graduates share the same educational opportunities.
In 2014 BECA will be classifying an additional 20 young people. The classification period is six months: three months of computer classes and three months of social service in a primary school.
For the first time, 7 of BECA's own graduates chose to support the labor of our foundation by donating C$ 9750.00 Córdobas during a fundraising campaign led by the BECA staff. This represents 25% of the budget of the classification process. (The balance will be contributed by foreign donors.)
The support by our program graduates is a key ingredient of our future success.
