Dear BECA Amigo,

September was a good month for BECA.org.

The reason? The scholarship classifying stage ended successfully with the completion of the "brigadista" phase - 3 months of full-time volunteering in Nicaraguan elementary schools in three municipalities: Masaya, Diriomo y Diría.

Of the 118 young people who began in March, 100 finished! That represents a percentage of 85%.

We want to thank the school principals, teachers and the officials from the Nicaragua Ministry of Education who worked with us on the BECA Brigade to make it all possible.

October brings the BECA staff retreat in which our team considers and discusses changes to the program for 2014.

These changes are necessary to keep our program healthy and maintain a positive experience for all of our stakeholders.

Let's not forget about pilot project REY13. These 10 high school students are about the finish their "classifying" on the 9th of October.

Everybody is ready to start thinking about what technical career they will study and begin the journey of their dreams.
