I wish you could experience what happens when we visit our students at home. So much fun!
Actually, we conduct two home visits. The first is to interview program applicants. The objective of the first visit is to meet the family, confirm the economic situation, and take a quick "snapshot" video of the candidate.
The second home visit happens six months after they receive their scholarship. Again, we meet with the family and discuss the student's academic situation emphasizing the importance of family support.
We take advantage of this visit to take a more elaborate video in which the student expresses in more detail his or her career goals. It's an opportunity to share their experiences in BECA.org.
I encourage you to visit our
YouTube channel where you can get to know our students.
Most of the videos are relatively short - one or two minutes - and it's a great way to see and hear first-hand what we are up to here in Nicaragua, from the persective of the program participants.
