INTERNATIONAL DAY OF
PRAYER AND FASTING
MONDAY 6th July
Rodney is the new National Prayer Coordinator for YFC USA. He asks us to join with YFC USA in praying about their upcoming conferences as a reflection of the Kingdom of HOPE. Hope has been watered-downed and diluted by years of misuse, as in, “it might happen”, “I hope it happens.” Our hope is in the Lord. Our hope is the God who closes the mouths of lions, who floats arks, who empties tombs. Our hope has substance. Our hope is like trusting the one who packs your parachute, the one who fastens the bungee cord to your ankles. We trust in HIM. Join us in praying for the USA program as they pray and intercede together.
Beginning in mid-August, and running through the first week in November, YFC USA will be holding three-day conferences in each of six regions, covering the entire country.
The main objectives of the conferences are to:
- Honour ministry site staff
- Connect them to each other
- Refresh their personal commitment to the Father
- Give them practical training within their ministry context
This year’s theme is “Upside Down.” According to the conference planning team, “We live in a place of contradictions but Jesus came and introduced a Kingdom that isn’t defined by colour, status, circumstance, gender, or geography.” Over the course of three days, we will reflect upon:
- Creation of the Kingdom; the way God intended it to be. Genesis 1:26-31; Psalm 139:1-18; and others
- Loss of the Kingdom; the fall, and resulting brokenness and disconnect. Genesis 4; Ephesians 4:30-33; Matthew 4:17; and others
- Restoration of the Kingdom; the pathway back to His original intent. Matthew 5; 2 Corinthians 5:14,15; and others
As you pray, let me remind and encourage you to pray with hope. I’m not talking about hope deferred, which makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12). Neither am I referring to hope in the context of wishful thinking. Rather, I am referring to biblical hope, which is cheerful, joyful, confident, expectation.
Pray as Paul prayed in Romans 15:13 Â “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of Holy Spirit.” Consider, if you will, the truth of Colossians 1:27 “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
As those who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb, we are literally carriers of His DNA. We are His inheritance. Latent in us, awaiting release, is the same resurrection power which raised Jesus from the dead.
Again, I encourage each of us to pray with that frame of mind.
Shalom,
Rodney
