INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING
MONDAY 2nd MARCH
By Geordon Rendle, International President
God speaks to us! One of the traditional practices at Lent sometimes is to “give up” something so that we can replace that something with the very Voice of God. When we simplify, fast or cut back – then it seems “easier” to hear The People Whisperer. The Words of God are compelling, convicting, compassionate.
I have often said that all of us in Youth for Christ – whether staff members, volunteers, ministry partners, intercessors – all of us are surrogate parents. We started our roles in YFC because of an original calling to stand in the gap for teenagers. Today, take some time to revisit that early calling - what brought you here? How did you get involved with YFC? What was that first love of ministry and why was it so compelling?
Once you’ve looked back, pray forward, as did the father of Samson. His name, Manoah, means rest, or quiet. Take some time today to be Manoah!
Judges 13:8, 9b: Then Manoah entreated the Lord and said, “O Lord, please let the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may teach us what to do for the boy who is to be born.” God listened to the voice of Manoah.
. . . Now Lord, send afresh your Spirit upon us so that He may teach us what to do for the ministries yet to be born in and through us. We believe that You hear our prayers for the spiritual children who are the heritage of Youth for Christ around the world. Thank you for your anointing and commissioning power. Thank you that we are indeed sent out as Your envoys to this generation. We celebrate Your original calling in our lives. As we gather together, today, as ONE YFC, we also entreat you. Remind us, refresh us, restore our joy for service and surrender. Thank you for Your listening heart. But we are especially grateful for Your speaking Voice!
