Remember almost 5 years ago when we opened the Ferreteria (Hardware Store) in Chacraseca? Well, the amazing women who started and still run the Dreaming Together Hardware Store have completed their dream to expand! With their partners' help and support they have completed construction of a new annex, and will begin selling used clothes and other new products this month! They are planning a "Grand Opening" celebration on October 13th, complete with refreshments, "gangas" (special bargains) and a blessing ceremony that will also change the name to Dreaming Together Hardware and General Store!

The children's playground (built by JustHope partners) in the newly created park beside the church in Chacraseca got a facelift! Dozens of children enjoy this space every afternoon, while their parents and aunts and uncles relax at the nearby picnic tables. And when they think no one is watching, even the teenagers in the area can be seen swinging or sharing the see-saws! The joy is contagious...

Welcome to our three newest Exploring Partners:
Murray State College and Northern Oklahoma College have joined the other JustHope Service Learning partners in our goal to provide better access to healthcare in La Flor, Santa Emilia and Chacraseca! Both colleges sent nursing students and faculty to all three partner communities earlier this summer where they met with Nicaraguan nursing students, visited public and private hospitals, learned about EMT care, and helped serve hundreds of people in our community clinics. They are already making plans for next year!
Harvard Avenue Christian Church is JustHope's newest faith-based Exploring partner. In June, a small group of adventurers spent several days in La Flor learning about that community's plan for its future well-being; and several days in Chacraseca helping to build a house and learn about community development there. Their first congregational PartnerTrip is scheduled for July of 2016.
JustHope is a 501c3 organization dedicated to creating global partnerships, combating extreme poverty, and nurturing sustainable community.
