Meet some of the patients from last week's life-changing surgeries!

Karla is a nine year old girl from Chacrsaeca. She was born with club feet and twisted legs... she has never taken a single step; she crawls everywhere. The hope for her surgery is that she will be able to stand on her feet and walk with the assistance of braces or crutches.
After surgery she will need two months of medical followup including pain control and X-rays. Longer term she will also need crutches, braces, and physical therapy. Anticipated cost for six months $1000.

Kevin is a 19 year old from Chacraseca. He's has a dislocated and fractured elbow for 3 years and has been unable to bend it. The hope for surgery is enough movement in his arm that he can do the work he went to technical school to learn - electrician. After surgery he will need significant pain medication for two months and physical therapy daily for three months. Cost $800

Eduardo is 18 years old and was born with cerebral palsy. He walks a little bit on crooked, bent legs. The hope for his surgery is to straighten legs so that he will be able to stand and maybe even walk. After surgery he will need pain control and physical therapy for two months; and possibly braces. Cost: $600

Berman is 30 years old and has been suffering with a bankart and labral tear in his shoulder, causing it to dislocate almost constantly. The hope for his surgery is that he will no longer dislocate the shoulder. He will be in recovery for 6 weeks. Pain medication throughout his recovery will cost $100.

Finally, Elba's last surgery - removed hardware from her broken leg! Bones are totally healed but hardware was creating pain. Pain medication for one month plus X-rays. Cost $100
