Exciting changes are happening in Chacraseca! And hopefully...all over Nicaragua in the coming years!
The traditional, wood-burning cook stoves used in most rural homes, carry several hazards- respiratory problems for the whole family, increased health risks for expectant mothers, deforestation...the list goes on.
 The new stoves are not only more fuel efficient and eco-friendly, they are also insulated and include a chimney to keep the smoke out of the house. As a result, the health risks are greatly diminished and the rate at which wood is used is significantly reduced!In the video below, Elmer Zelaya, Executive Director of CHICA, Nicaraguan development organization, speaks about the exciting changes!
