JustHope Partners, United Church of the Valley in Murietta, CA, have been making music in Chacraseca! Along with paying a music teacher in the schools, every summer they offer a Music Camp for children and teachers; this will be the 7th year!
This June they are at it again and you are invited to join!
Also new this year is a study abroad/service-learning aspect. Our partnership with TCC has expanded to include the music department! And they will be joining in on the music camp, learning the traditional Nicaraguan folk music, and sharing their own passion and talents.
Using traditional Nicaraguan folk music, sessions will be offered teaching kids to sing and to play the recorder, chimes, guitar, the
keyboard, drums, and the marimba! (Instruments have also been donated for the schools for the kids to use.) AND sessions will also be offered to teach the Nicaraguan classroom teachers how to continue the learning by incorporating music into their teaching.
Students from past years' music camps come back to teach the younger kids...
 Our hope for the future is to develop a Music School in Chacraseca where youth and adults can learn to play instruments and do traditional Nicaraguan dancing. Whether you sing or play an instrument; whether you teach or assist, we would love to have 3-4 music lovers join us June 20 - 28. More trip info here. ***************************** Upcoming Event!
Fellowship Congregational Church will be hosting a JustHope fundraising Garage Sale June 13-14! We need garage sale items and volunteers! Please email us if you have items to donate or are available to help set-up and/or cashier during the event. |
