Marta, one of the community leaders of the Las Lomas sector, and the coordinator of the Las Lomas microcredit bank, dedicates a tremendous amount of time to serving her community.

Elba trained Marta on how to successfully run a bank, including budgeting, some business management, and the importance of 100% repayment and how to build a healthy support system among the women. She was chosen by Elba and did not want to be a failure. "I chose strong women who would not let their husband take their money." Three of these women are raising pigs; five are raising different types of crops. All of these eight women have made payments on their loans. No payments were due until August of 2014...

Christina - her dream was to have a job. Now, she works at Stitching Hope. She loves learning new things, and thinks it's funny that at 49 years old she's always learning. This job has enabled her to not only learn many news things, but also to earn far more money than she did when she worked as a seamstress out of her home. She walks an hour to work everyday, and an hour back home, because she wants her two children to get an education and to have good jobs; her son is in university now!

Julia runs her own business selling fruits and vegetables from her cart all over Len! She buys produce from her neighbors, which she sells in addition to what she grows herself. Every day, except Sunday, she takes the bus at 5:00a and then walks all over town until 2:00p. Now she has a microcredit loan, which she used to buy 2 pigs. She is planning on raising the pigs for breeding and adding pork to her cart offerings.

These are just a few examples of how partnerships are changing lives! Thank you all for your support and partnership!
