May 19-26 Join a group of dental hygiene students from Tulsa Community College on a Service-Learning trip. 

 

May 25- June 2 Join a group of medical students on a Service-Learning trip to Chacraseca.

 

June 21-July 2 to Chacraseca for Music Camp and house-building with UCV, Murrieta, CA

 

June 29-July 6 Join Redeemer Church- Tulsa in Chacraseca. 

 

June 29-July 6 Join DCC- Bartlesville in Chacraseca. 

 

July 20-28 Join a group of medical students on a Service-Learning trip to Chacraseca, Santa Emilia, and La Flor.

 

December 14-21 Join a group of medical students on a Service-Learning trip to Chacraseca.

 

December 29-January 5 Join First Christian Church- Harrisonville, MO, as they deepen their connections in Chacraseca. AND a group of audio-visual students and psychology students from Tulsa Community College as they travel through Nicaragua.

Holy Week in Nicaragua
 
For Christians in Nicaragua, Semana Santa (Holy Week) is in progress. Much like the time surrounding Christmas, this time leading up to the celebration of Christ's resurrection is sacred and joyous for the large religious population!
 
These predominantly Catholic celebrations have also been adopted by many Protestants, and take place all over Nicaragua. There are several meaningful parades/processions and ceremonies. One great example are The Stations of the Cross. If you have come with us to Chacraseca and visited the Peace House, you may remember the meditation garden. Within this garden are the 14 station of the cross.
 
meditation garden This is meant to be a reflective representation of Christ's journey to crucifixion. During Lent, leading up to Good Friday, the stations are set up all over a town; maybe in people's homes or in a park. 

For the entire week, businesses close and cities almost completely shut down in order to participate in all the parades, parties, and various church functions. It can be a spectacular time to be able to participate in Nicaraguan life...
