Madison Mini is a Win for Local Economy!
Kent State's College of Business Administration conducted a study on the economic impact of the BMO Harris Bank Madison Mini-Marathon & 5K, led by Shawn Rohlin, Ph.D., of the university's Department of Economics.

The Madison Mini-Marathon created a total economic impact of approximately $5.4 million, according to the Kent State study.

"Our goal with the BMO Harris Madison Mini-Marathon & 5K is to produce a great running event that has a positive long lasting impact on our participants, volunteers, partners and community," said Jeff Graves, president of Vision Event Management. "The results of this economic impact report is just one example on how the Madison Mini-Marathon is fulfilling our goal."

The boost in economic activity also generated the equivalent of 109.5 new full-time jobs. The study was conducted by collecting data through surveys distributed to participants and spectators after the event took place.

2013 Blanket & Diaper Drive Update
The 2013 Blanket and Diaper Drive was a huge success.  Through blanket and diaper donations as well as online contributions, UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was able to donate 190 blankets and 5,700 diapers to three local organizations.  Since the department teamed up with the Madison Mini Marathon five years ago, over 16,000 diapers have been donated to the community!

The average baby uses 2,500 diapers in the first year.  Because of the significant need, we hope to increase the number of diapers we're able to provide to families in need. Please help us reach our 2014 goal of 7,500 diapers.

The drive will again happen during the month of August.  To learn more about the UW Department of Ob-Gyn and how we're supporting women through our  Healthy Women Healthy Babies Fund, visit us online.
