PTOs UNITE !!

PTO's from throughout the Scottsdale Unified School District are joining together in an effort to unite all SUSD parents in taking a stand against proposed educational budget cuts.

There are alternative budget reduction ideas, which will not affect the classrooms that have been presented it to the SUSD budget committee.  The school board is willing to listen and they have agreed to meet with the budget committee on March 20th.  There are opportunities to make your voice heard.

Information is knowledge - SUSD Budget Committee Meeting Minutes and Presentations can be found by clicking here.

How can we stay informed and make our voices heard?

  • Petition - An online petition will be created to show a united front to the SUSD Budget Committee.  This petition will not be one to suggest a new budget....there is not enough time for that.  The purpose of this petition is to let the Governing Board know that SUSD parents are in agreement that we do not want budget cuts to impact the classroom, we are asking the Governing Board to find areas outside the classroom to cut.

  • Email Campaigns  - Contact the Governing Board to share your thoughts on the SUSD Budget Cuts impacting DCES.  The Governing Board is our avenue to having our voices heard about the looming budget cuts for DCES next year.  To contact all Governing Board Members at once, use this email:  govboard@susd.org and cc: SUSD Superintendent Dr. Peterson at djpeterson@susd.org on your communication.

  • Social Networking - A Facebook Page is in the process of being created to keep parents informed of items relating to SUSD Budget meetings, community involvement, ideas and a forum for sharing ideas.  As soon as this page has been created it will be communication to DCES Parents via the DCES PTO Facebook Page and the PawPrint.

  • DCES PTO General Meeting - March 26th at 9:00am.  Mr. Rantala will provide an update of SUSD Budget Updates following the next Governing Board meeting which will be held on March 19th.

  • DCES PTO PawPrint and Facebook Page - The DCES PTO will continue to provide parents with updates via the PawPrint and the Facebook Page.

We NEED your HELP

All Parents of SUSD students are coming together to insist on efficient spending of available funds.  We will no longer tolerate cuts to our classrooms, schools or teachers in the Scottsdale Unified School District.  We ask the Governing Board to work with the budget committee and find an alternative to the proposed cuts.

Please take a moment to sign our petition.

Visit and Like the Facebook site to stay up to date with the researched data, statistics and other alternatives to the current proposed budget cuts.
