TONIGHT is Family Night at the Bookfair!
Tonight, Wednesday, November 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. is Family Night! (Please note this is an early release day. The fair will close at 12:45pm then re-open at 5:00pm for Family Night.)
Sub sandwiches from Subway will be available for purchase. 6"Turkey and 6" Ham & Cheese will be offered with chips and a drink for $5 value meal!
The book fair will be open to shop during this time. This popular night is a great chance to have dinner while catching up with friends/neighbors and seeing what the book fair has this year. There are many titles that start at just $3.99. You will find many great gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season too.

Friday is the Doughnuts with Dad event!
 This event is always a great time for everyone. This year it is being held Friday, November 9th from 7:30 a.m. until school starts. Free doughnuts, coffee, and water are provided to the students and their dads. It doesn't have to be a dad; uncles, grandfathers, cousins, moms, etc are welcome too! The book fair is open during this time. Again, any time you can volunteer for this busy event would be great.
Your child should have brought home a book fair packet last week. This year, we will again be participating in Scholastics' "All for Books" program (formerly known as "One for Books"). For every $1 donated, Scholastic will match the donation for our school AND donate up to one million books to three non-profit organizations. To donate, cut out and sign the "star" in the packet and return it with your donation to your child's teacher. All signed "stars" will be displayed at the Book Fair.
If you are interested in volunteering, please visit www.mysignup.com to schedule your desired time. There is a separate sign up for each day of the week including the special events on Wednesday night and Friday morning. You will receive a $5 gift certificate to be used at the book fair for each two hour shift you work!

2. In the upper right hand cornier, click "search for signup".
3. Enter dstansbery@cox.net for the e-mail address and then click submit.
4. Note the signups are in alphabetical order. Click the day you would like to volunteer.
5. Click the "I'll be there" box for each 1/2 hour increment you can volunteer.
6. You will also be asked to enter your name(required), all the other information is optional.
7. Click "I'll do it" and your name should appear on the schedule.
8. Repeat these steps as many times as you would like to volunteer!
Who gets all the book fair money? Based on sales from our book fair, Scholastic gives DCES a certain percentage in book credit (approximately 45%). Based on the amount available, DCES teachers receive a certain allotment to spend at the book fair to help build their classroom libraries. The library and other faculty also receive allotments as appropriate.
