This week is SOAP for HOPE!!
Please bring in soap items this week. We will be collecting laundry soap, shampoo, body wash, etc. at the front gate and in the car line coming in to school. We also have a basket at the office! We collect soap items-shampoo, body wash, bar soap, laundry soap, etc.-to donate to our Sister School, Tavan Elementary. Tavan Elementary is a Title 1 school, which means that a large percentage of the children that attend the school are below the poverty level. They are doing a great job academically and just received an A rating, but with the current economy, many of the families have a tough time making ends meet. The administration told us that they could really use soap products to help make sure the children come to school clean and ready to learn! Thank you for your generosity!! |

SUSD 15% M&O Override As you know, the November election is going to be a critical time for the future of our state and nation. While the statewide and national elections have received much of the media attention, one of the most important races is happening right here, in our own backyard.
Over the last 5 years, the State Legislature has been forced to cut $2.5 billion from our schools. Our very own Scottsdale Unified School District has been forced to absorb over $20 million of those cuts. While our schools have done well to handle the budget cuts, the long-term impact on our schools will be devastating.
Early voting for the November election begins next week! When you receive your ballot, you can support our schools by voting YES on the SUSD Override. Your YES vote will continue the existing override and help:
- Reduce class sizes
- Save 179 teacher positions
- Preserve all day kindergarten
- Provide access to extra curricular activities and programs
- Enhance technology and improve classroom tools
- Continue our robust music and arts programs
Unlike the statewide initiative, the SUSD Override will provide monies directly to our classrooms, where it impacts our students and their education the most.
Scottsdale Schools have been responsible stewards of your tax dollars. As the economy goes, so go our schools. The relationship is symbiotic in that a strong economy supports great schools. We cannot build a strong economy without successful schools. Job creation and businesses depend on a highly educated workforce, and without the continuation of the override, our schools will suffer.
SUSD has the lowest tax rate in Maricopa County, but produces some of the highest performing schools and nationally recognized students. There is no denying that great schools provide a tangible return on our investment. Residents want to live near the best schools, making property and homes in the area worth more. Businesses need an educated workforce, and as a result, locate in areas that produce the best-prepared students. By supporting our schools and voting YES on the SUSD override, you will encourage business growth and strengthen our local community.
Help strengthen our businesses, neighborhoods, schools and home values - vote YES on the SUSD Override when you return your early ballot or visit the polls on November 6th!
