2nd Annual Soap for Hope Drive
It's time for our 2nd Annual Soap for Hope Drive, October 29th - Nov. 2nd.
We collect soap items-shampoo, body wash, bar soap, laundry soap, etc.-to donate to our Sister School, Tavan Elementary. Tavan Elementary is a Title 1 school, which means that a large percentage of the children that attend the school are below the poverty level. They are doing a great job academically and just received an A rating, but with the current economy, many of the families have a tough time making ends meet. The administration told us that they could really use soap products to help make sure the children come to school clean and ready to learn! If you are going on vacation this Fall Break, please bring in any unused trial size soaps from your hotel stay. If you go shopping and see a good sale, grab a few bottles of shampoo, body wash, or laundry soap for Tavan. Again this year we are thankful to the Henkel Corporation (Dial) for a generous donation of Purex with Zout. That will help get us started! If everyone brings in 1 item or a bag of donations, this drive will be a huge success!! After break, we will have a basket at the office to collect your donations . The week of October 29th, we will be collecting at the front gate and car line. Thank you for your help!!

On November 6th SUSD
voters will be asked to vote on the SUSD 15% M&O Override
The Governing Board of the District has called a special budget override election to be held on November 6, 2012 to request voter authorization to exceed the Maintenance and Operation Budget by 15% of the revenue control limit to fund existing programs. The increase authorized by this election shall be funded from a levy of taxes on the taxable property within the District. This is a continuation of the existing 5% and 10% budget override authorities, with an expansion of the 5% budget override as authorized by State law.
The funds raised support the needs of student's kindergarten through twelve as follows:
- Maintain All-Day Kindergarten.
- Lower student teacher ratios.
- Provide opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of the arts, world languages, and participate in Athletic and Co-curricular Activities.
- Allow Students to deepen their knowledge of academics by using technology as a learning tool.
- Elective course opportunities that are interest based and aligned with 21st Century Standards.
- Middle School structure that supports team building, mentoring, connection with adult advocates, study and organizational skills, and goal setting.
- Provide for Staff Professional Learning.
