Welcome Back
Letter from the Headmaster

Perry at door

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year at Lakehill Preparatory School. We are very pleased that you have chosen our school for your child's education and we are committed to having a positive impact on each of their lives. Education is a life-long endeavor and we are honored to work with you and your children during this stage of their development.

This year our focus will be on the founding tenets of our school: Truth, Honor, and Loyalty, which are prominently displayed on the school crest. These characteristics have become the hallmark of our school through the actions of our students, faculty, and staff. Truth, Honor, and Loyalty will be the foundation that will support us as we make decisions, take action, and interact with each other throughout the course of the school year.

Each of us wants to be part of a strong, secure, and caring community; one in which we are valued and supported. Our goal is that every student and adult will have this experience at our school.

I enjoyed seeing so many of you at the Back-to-School Picnic. What a wonderful turnout and a fantastic way to start the new school year. I hope you will join us on Friday, September 6 at the Warrior Athletic Complex for our first home football game of the season against Irving Universal and our annual Tailgate Party.

I look forward to seeing you then!

Lakehill Receives Awards

2013 Dallas Award

For the fifth consecutive year, Lakehill Preparatory School has been selected for the 2013 Dallas Award in the Private Elementary & Secondary Schools category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Nationwide, only 1 in 1000 (less than one-tenth of 1%) of the 2013 Award recipients qualified as Five-Time Award Winners.

BestofLiving Lakehill was also voted Best Private School in Dallas by the readers of the Park Cities and North Dallas publication, Living Magazine. Additionally, the school was selected as a finalist by the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce for the 2013 Hensarling Business Awards for the important role the school plays in the community. Finalists were honored by U.S. Congressman Jeb Hensarling on August 20 at a banquet in their honor. Earlier in the summer, Lakehill advanced to the final stages in the Dallas Business Journal's Best Places to Work awards program.

Parent Faculty Club Hosts Annual Picnic

Picnic

Lakehill families gathered on August 24 for the annual Back-to-School Picnic. Held on the Saturday evening before the first day of school and sponsored by the Parent Faculty Club (PFC), the annual picnic is a favorite tradition among Lakehill families.

The picnic was a great opportunity for families to reunite for fun and friendship and to welcome new families to Lakehill. The Varsity Cheerleaders kicked off the event with cheers to build school spirit and the Varsity Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country teams were introduced. Water slides provided endless entertainment for the younger set while those who were more musically inclined performed karaoke for the crowd.

A pot luck supper with snow cones provided by the PFC added to the festivities. "The picnic was the perfect way to start off a new school year," explained Kimberly Reister, PFC Chairperson for the event. New PFC President Tricia McCaleb agreed. "Kimberly and her team of volunteers did an amazing job and we are grateful for their efforts. It's going to be a wonderful year!"
