There are more budget events coming up, and this time you'll have an opportunity to testify! The public forum will provide you with the opportunity to offer testimony before City Council and express which service priorities are most important to Portland residents for next year's FY 2013-14 budget which begins July 1, 2013.

Sponsor a Goose Hollow Sign Cap
Want a goose on your street corner? Goose Hollow's neighborhood association, the Goose Hollow Foothills League (GHFL), is looking at locations to hang street sign caps featuring their neighborhood's iconic goose.
"We hope these sign caps will help to provide a visual reminder that we live, work, and play in one of the most unique and historically significant neighborhoods in Portland," says Scott Schaffer, Board Member of the GHFL and sign cap project co-chair. "We've obtained several generous grants to get us started," Schaffer continues, "but need others to step up and help subsidize the very real costs of manufacturing and hanging the signs."
Neighbors and local businesses interested in sponsoring signs on their street corner are asked to contact Alexis Ingram for more information on how to make this project a success.

NWNW's Annual Fundraising Play
Join Neighbors West-Northwest for an evening at the theater! Purchase tickets to an exclusive preview performance of Crooked on Thursday, May 16, and benefit the coalition of 12 neighborhood associations.
Set in Oxford, Mississippi, Crooked explores coming-of-age, friendship, and family through the perspective of strong female characters. The Daily Telegraph says "This is a wonderfully neat play, at once simple and complex, grappling with big issues - matters of faith, fantasy and the flesh - while keeping its sneakers firmly planted on the suburban topsoil of adolescent angst and domestic frictions." Please note the play includes mature themes. See our website for more details.
Tickets are available for purchase now: $25 per adult ticket or $15 per ticket for seniors, students and educators. Purchase over the phone (503 823-4265), in person at our office (2257 NW Raleigh) or online through PayPal.
This event contributes to NWNW's general fund, which provides staff and support to assist volunteers with neighborhood activities, including trainings, website and e-newsletter support and assistance with neighborhood events like emergency preparedness workshops and summer picnics.
Special thanks to CoHo Productions.

Join the Twin-Bucket BrigadeBy Carol McCreary, PHLUSH
Over the past 18 months, PHLUSH (Public Hygiene Lets Us Stay Human) has exhibited the Twin Bucket Emergency Toilet system at 25 community events. Now the group is calling on community members to display the largely self-explanatory exhibit at their meetings and events. A basic emergency sanitation exhibit kit is now available on loan from Neighbors West-Northwest. Included in a small cart that can be rolled or carried by bike are the following: nested pee and poo buckets, various lids including a toilet seat, sandwich bags with samples of carbon composting material, a plastic rack for how-to leaflets, a sign, a table cloth, and a clipboard sign-up for those who have special inquiries or want to know more. This urine-separating emergency system pioneered in post-earthquake Christchurch, New Zealand has been approved by the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management. Interested in joining the Twin-Bucket Brigade? Contact PHLUSH (info@phlush.org) to schedule a 90-minute orientation at the PHLUSH office. PHLUSH can also arrange orientation by phone or video conference. Contact NWNW (coalition@nwnw.org) to check out the exhibit kit for display at an event.
