Kingsland, St. Marys & Woodbine Officials Celebrate 'Georgia Cities Week'
Kingsland, St. Marys and Woodbine officials announced the cities will be celebrating "Georgia Cities Week" April 13-19, 2014. The cities will be holding a
variety of events throughout the week, including a 'Touch-A-Truck Event', Art, Trivia and Essay Contests. The theme of this year's Georgia Cities Week is "People, Place, Purpose," which reflects the qualities that make cities cultural, economic and social drivers of the community.

This is the 15th year Georgia Cities Week has been celebrated in the state and the first year that the cities of Camden County have combined efforts to participate. Representatives from the three cities are very proud of our cities and the services that they provide to make it attractive to residents and visitors. The cities of Camden County provide the services and infrastructure to help businesses grow and set the stage for events where families and individuals can gather as a community.

Events planned for the week are:
  • Fifth Grade Essay "If I were Mayor, I would..." contests at David L. Rainer Elementary, St. Marys Elementary and Woodbine Elementary schools. One winner will be selected from each participating school and a certificate and prize pack awarded at each schools respective city council meeting on April 7th and April 14th, 2014.
  • Countywide 'Touch-A-Truck' Event - Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at the Kingsland Winn Dixie parking lot with vehicles from Camden County, Kingsland, St. Marys, Woodbine and Submarine Base Kings Bay.
  • Camden County High School Art Contest - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners to be recognized on Monday, April 14th, 2014 at the Kingsland City Council meeting.
Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 519 member cities.
