Promoting Healthy Habits  

Many thanks to nursing students from Del Tech who, on Nov. 6, helped promote healthy habits among West End youth such as eating fruits and vegetables and exercising daily.
Capital One Job Interviews
On Oct. 22, volunteers from Capital One's HR Department conducted mock group and one-on-one interviews with 9 West End customers as part of the bank's ONE Week volunteer initiative. The group also held a Q&A discussion about interviewing and workplace norms/behavior.
Friends of Parks

On Nov. 6, 21 representatives from the city of Wilmington's Planning Department, Mayor's Office, Neighborhood Planning Councils and Friends of Parks groups traveled to Philadelphia to meet with that city's Friends of Parks groups and Department of Parks and Recreation. The trip's purpose was to learn about how residents work in partnership with the city to improve Philadelphia's parks, and how we might implement these ideas here in Wilmington. 
West End Track Team Above 'Xpectations' 
On Oct. 19-20, West End's 'Above Xpectations' track team competed at the Mountain Express Track Club Invitational in Frederick, MD. Maya Bordrick placed 3rd in the 11-12 year-old age group, while Jordan McCollum and Isaiah Harmon placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the 13-14 year-old age group.
Father Tucker Park Halloween Celebration 
On Oct. 26, Friends of Father Tucker Park, in collaboration with West Side Grows Together (the neighborhood revitalization initiative coordinated by Cornerstone West CDC) organized a Halloween Party for neighborhood children. More than 125 youth and their parents participated, enjoying pumpkin painting, games, and a costume contest.
