Harriet Tubman Essay Contest

Congratulations to Dashyra Thomas (pictured with her family) and Nathan Stansberry, who earned runner up and first place prizes respectively in the Harriet Tubman essay contest! Both Dashyra & Nathan are participants of West End's GED and Positive Pathways (P3) mentoring programs.
West Side Business Appreciation Day

On Wednesday, April 10, West Side Grows Together will host a celebration of West Side businesses. The event will begin with a press conference at 9:30 a.m. on the corner of 8th & Union Streets in front of the newly opened Pizza Pazza. All are welcome!
Finding a Job 

On March 7 Joe Paul - of the Jericho Training Center in Compton, California - spoke to 70 students and 10 staff in West End's Education, Employment & Positive Pathways programs. Mr. Paul's presentation focused on job search strategies and how to explain past events that could limit future employment opportunities.

Dirt Day a Resounding Success  

On Saturday, March 9, over 100 members of the 'bucket brigade' hauled 60 cubic yards of composted topsoil for 24 new garden plots to the top of the Rodney Street Reservoir. 16 of those 24 additional plots will be used by the Bright Spot Ventures program to grow fresh produce for the Wilmington Farmers' Market this summer.
