Blacks in Wax Museum Trip
Recently, 20 students and 5 teachers/program managers from the Positive Pathways Program (along with several parents) took a field trip to The Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, MD. The group learned about the past struggles of African Americans, as well as our country's most influential African American leaders and their contributions to society. MLK March for Peace & Celebration
On, Monday, Jan. 21, West Side Grows Together, in collaboration with multiple community partners, organized a March for Peace honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The march also called for an end to the gun violence plaguing our communities and nation.
The event was followed by a Community Celebration at Be Ready Church that included children's activities, music, spoken word and dance performances. The march and community celebration created an opportunity to work with many new organizations and included the participation of over 200 supporters and community members.
