Txakolifest is back! It's the one day of the year that Durham breaks out its secret stash of porrons and is transformed into an unlikely sister city to San Sebastián. Complete with spritzy Basque wine, oysters, and pintxos (tapas), this is one of the greatest celebrations in town and has become the largest festival of Txakoli in the US! This year, Mattie Beason, De Maison, Wine Authorities, and The Rickhouse are partnering to carry on the torch of Txakolifest! With the help of spectacular vendors, chefs and culinary artisans, we are making this year's Txakolifest one for the books! Hold on to your porron, and basque in the camaraderie of this day all while raising money and awareness for Urban Ministries of Durham, whose mission is to meet emergency needs for food, clothing, and shelter and to help those who are homeless secure a home and the resources to stay there.
Also Featuring:
MATEO, PIZZERIA TORO, JUJU, GOCCIOLINA , ORRMAN'S CHEESE SHOP, BLACK TWIG, BONAFIDE, BLU SEAFOOD, OVAL PARK GRILLE, DURHAM TOFFEE, MW CALLIGRAPHY, AMERICAN PARTY RENTALS, & MORE!!
Wine Authorities's Grand Poobah will be on hand through the afternoon and evening sessions as the event's professor of Txakolina! He'll describe the grapes & regions responsible for Txakoli, demonstrate how to use a porron (pictured above), and answer all your Txako-riffic questions.

As always, a portion of each and every bottle of rosé sold will be donated to the fight against breast cancer!

This Tuesday, May 24th, we present our FREE midweek wine tasting! Every Tuesday is tasty...
Picking up where we've left of following Saturday's tasting of awesomely affordable new vintages from Bordeaux favorites, we're going to spread the love to the rest of France's Southwest. We'll begin and end in Gascony with blends driven respectively by Colombard and Tannat. In between, we're off to the northeastern reaches of the Southwest (confusing, right?) to sample a prime example of Negrette, the specialty of Fronton. After all, there's the Sud-Ouest, and then there's the rest...
And don't forget:
Our Tasty Tuesday 15% Half-Case Discount!
After you taste, put together 6 bottles from our Tasty Tuesday lineup, and we'll take an entire 15% off!

Free Saturday Tastings!
Durham & Raleigh:
From Noon to 3 pm, "try before you buy"
at our FREE tastings!
From Bordeaux
With Love!
(A slew of new vintages and outstanding value)
Bordeaux's wines are the distinctive, confident offspring of the area's terroirs, and the region's grapes are icons globally for their work both on their home turf and abroad. We often expect wines coming from France's most famous regions to be more expensive than their New World counterparts, but this is not the case! Join us on Saturday as we break open a vault of fantastic Bordeaux that doesn't break the bank. From the new vintages of old favorites, from the bottle to the box and back again, there's plenty to explore and to savor of the Aquitaine's accommodating wines at Saturday's free tasting. See you there (lest you be square)!
Chateau Haut-Dambert
{organic} 34% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc
(Bordeaux, France)
BRIGHT RED RASPBERRY, RHUBARB & ROSE PETAL Born in the vineyards "between two seas" this equal-parts cuvée of Cabernet Franc with its offspring, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, drifts calmly yet energetically on its own sea of zesty acidity and vibrant red fruit. Recalling raspberry and dried cranberry, the fruit is ribboned through with wisps of floral and herbaceous perfume...
Chateau Grand Portail
Entre-Deux-Mers Haut-Benauge 2015
{organic} 45% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sauvignon Gris, 15 (Bordeaux, France)
MOUTHWATERING LIME, ZIPPY, LIVELY MINERALITY From the small enclave of Haut-Benage, Grand-Portail overlooks the Garonne River from a lofty 100 meters. The young Olivier Cailleux represents the sixth generation of his family to sustainably till the clay and limestone soils here - soils much like those of Sancerre. Perhaps that helps explain why this Sauvignon...
Chateau Pillebois
75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon
(Bordeaux, France)
BLACK PLUM, CHOCOLATEY FINESSE & SILKY TANNIN, SUMPTUOUS TOAST Castillon, often thought of as being a kind of fifth satellite of Saint-Emilion (along with Lussac, Montagne, Saint-Georges, and Puisseguin), is home to some of Bordeaux's most extraordinary and reliable values. While...
Graves Rouge 2014 "Cuvée Berengere"
{organic} 65% Merlot, 35% Cab Sauv
CASSIS & RIPE BLACKBERRY, FIRM GRAVELLY MINERALITY Just 7 hectares of gravely, clay soil vineyards, this estate is tiny and part of the family since the 1800s. High density plantings and short pruning concentrate and focus the flavors in the wine. Final hand-harvesting ensures...
